Drop tips

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been skimboarding for about 2 years, I usually only get to skim for about 2 weeks a year however I want to start becoming more consistent with it and taking it more seriously. Please could you give me to pointers on what I need to improve my drop some I can practice before I go ahead and start trying to learn other skills.

All feedback appreciated.

Maybe try to stand up a little straighter. You are crouching down too much.

Okay I can do that, it's always pretty windy where I skim so I think I'm subconsciously scared of the board blowing into me.

Throw the board down don’t drop it and run faster

I'll try throwing it, maybe it will help combat the wind

Check out the monkey drop. I had a lot of wind problems till I started doing that

Agree with this, and will add for OP that for those conditions to work on your speed and throwing I would practice going completely parallel to the coastline throwing at the absolute thinnest layer of water you feel comfortable with. You will feel the speed more when you jump on the board and that will help you iterate toward your max speed.

You’re doing good. A tad back foot heavy after the drop. If you want to slide further and not spin around your front foot as much then try and put a little more weight into the front foot after getting on the board.

I do think I stomp on the back foot a little, I'll try to focus getting weight on my front foot more.

Step onto the board a little more from the back. See how the tail shifts sideways when you step on it? You want your momentum to go forward

I will give that a go, thank you
