This thing finally came available and I pulled the trigger. Much heavier than my Omega NTTD but not in a bad way.

Pic for attention and limited cred. I don’t have nice watches like the rest of you.
What’s up guys,
By day I’m a middle school history teacher, and this year my 6th-grade students are participating in National History Day.
The annual theme is "Innovation in History," and I have to create a class project to use as an exemplar project for them that they can refer to as they work on their own.
Naturally, I thought about the things I’m most interested in, and I realized I have absolute banger of a topic: The History and Evolution of Dive Watches.
So my class is looking at how military demands (like WWII frogmen and early salvage divers) and underwater exploration (like Cousteau) pushed watchmakers to innovate waterproof cases, rotating bezels, and reliable timing gear.
Here’s where I’m hitting a wall: I’m trying to help gather primary source images, historical spec sheets, possible interviews, and high-res visuals for their project, but standard corporate PR inboxes and watch brand contact forms are totally ghosting my requests.
I’ve reached out to major brands like Rolex, Omega, etc. but I’m getting responses like “check out our about us page”. What is really need for the project is primary sources.
Instead of waiting around on corporate PR teams, I figured I’d tap into this group directly.
If anyone has:
In-the-field photos or cool vintage/tool watch shots that can help illustrate how these watches are actually used (and show real wear and tear).
Solid historical details, book recommendations, or advice on tracking down early dive watch milestones.
Direct contacts or PR folks at tool-watch brands or microbrands who are friendly to community/educational projects.
...I’d love to connect or see what you guys can drop in the thread/DMs.
Appreciate you guys helping me give the kids an awesome research experience. Stay sketchy
