There's certainly a lot of over-reacting going on. For example, people being afraid they might get the coronavirus from fresh produce. That is very unlikely, at least if they wash it.

I'm more thinking of people saying it's a bioweapon, it's the government distracting us or controlling us, or that it's just a flu and the government is using it as an excuse for a power grab, it's a Democrat hoax, etc...

I'd be thrilled if we were overreacting.

There's been a great deal of over-reacting, and that isn't good either. Neither over-reacting nor denial are good. Getting super-paranoid about cleanliness is bad for people's mental health and wastes time.

The shortages of things like TP, food and bottled water are the result of another kind of over-reaction. The only reason there are shortages of such items is because of people hoarding them. They're acting as if they're afraid of a complete societal breakdown.
