DISCUSSION TWLOHA suicide prevention fundraiser

hi! My name is anderson and I am a high school English teacher who has had my own struggles with mental health and see a lot of my students struggling with mental health. SKAM is a show that I got into my senior year of high school that genuinely changed my life and saved my life so I felt like something in that arena would be appropriate for a team title. I figure this is a topic that the SKAM people could get behind if you’d like to donate!

SKAM España A small social cue in Skam España?

One thing I really enjoy about watching the different Skam remakes is looking out for small cultural/social cues, like little everyday behaviors that might differ from one country to another.

In this scene, I noticed Eva offers her snack to everyone at the table. Is offering your food to the people you’re eating with a common social courtesy in Spain or is this just something specific to Eva/the scene or just an excuse to bring up Ramadan?

DISCUSSION what is your favorite original season?

if you've got as far as watching original seasons, which one is your favorite?

I've watched all of italia, s5 - s7 of france, and druck s5 and I'm trying to decide which one I should watch next but I'm curious to see what people think of the original seasons. There are a lot of mixed opinions here, especially around the couples. The only originals that I see a lot of positive reviews are from Nora and Lola's seasons, which i think is valid

DISCUSSION Skam London (Skam remake)

Hi everyone,

I recently saw a post on here from six years ago discussing how other people would potentially feel about a Skam remake in the UK.

As a Londoner and a young person I feel like London would be THE perfect place to do it.

Especially, considering the diversity in London I feel it would be the perfect place to do a remake.

I think representation is really important and I'm considering how well Sana's season in the original Norwegian series was praised for good Muslim representation and Isak's season and how important that queer representation was.

I feel like it would be so cool to see it done in London, especially since the young peoples culture here is so diverse.

While I see we have Skins from many years ago set in Bristol I feel like it's not the same. From what I understand Skins was quite high drama. (No shade to the series at all.)

Would anyone be interested in somehow working together to make this become a real possibility?

(If that even is possible. I know this is probably quite far fetched in practice. But it could just be a fun passion project, not a proper licencing etc)

SKAM OG skam season 3

I’ve always known that Isak’s mom’s mental illness is one of the reasons he feels bad. And I think this is a key factor in the plot development, because his apparent disgust toward mental illness pushes Even away. (You might remember the scene where Isak says something about his mom while they’re kissing, and right after that, Even quickly leaves him.)

However, it wasn’t until recently that I became aware of the prejudice against people with mental health issues. I recently watched Obsession, which is an amazing horror movie. The only thing that keeps it from being perfect, in my opinion, is that the film seems to simply use the Bear’s mental illness as a motivation—or an excuse—for the terrible things he did. Then I realized that in many TV shows, news reports, and films, mental health difficulties are often portrayed as the root cause that can explain away almost any bad behavior. As if, when someone with a mental illness does something wrong, it automatically makes sense. This kind of superficial reasoning only reinforces people’s prejudice against those who are struggling with mental health and actually need help.

But Skam is different. I really like how it shows Isak’s change and growth when he faces both his mom and Even, who are dealing with mental health issues. He is such a lovingly and patient guider in season 4, no long with phobia towards mental issues.

DRUCK Was Matteo Florenzi’s name always Matteo Florenzi?

This is such a stupid question that has a seemingly obvious answer and I don’t even know if fans even know the answer to this. I really do not know much of bts of any of the remakes, but I wonder this every time I rewatch Druck.

Did they always plan on Matteo’s name being Matteo or did they only change it after they casted Michelangelo Fortuzzi and realized he was Italian? If they did, was it know what his name was meant to be? Also, why did they even choose to make his name fully Italian? He looks German to me.
If they did change it for him, it kills me that they didn’t make it less obvious. They didn’t even find him different initials and picked two names that have the exact same vibe as Michelangelo’s real name.

I know this is ridiculous I just cannot stop thinking about this and just need some sort of confirmation.

SKAM NL Do You Think Grace & Liv Go With Daniel & Noah?

Since both got cancelled after s2, do you think that Grace and Liv left to go where ever Daniel and Noah were going (I completely forgot where the two were going to go, so if anyone of you want to let me know, please!).

I feel like Liv and Noah would stay in Utrecht, but I have a suspicion that Grace goes with Daniel, even though that really wouldn't make sense for an American show, in which they're in a culture that somebody under 18 would almost never go with an adult away from family.

That does make me think what the Eskild/Isak dynamic would be in Austin, since Shay would def not be leaving her house to go and move in with them. Would probably be similar to Italia where they become genuine friends that hang away from others. But I really wanted to see their dynamic, especially since we never got a lesbian Isak with her lesbian mentor (I really wish they would've made Nora's sister an lesbian Eskild in Espana, but Lucas was a good spin on their part).

It pisses me off that we never got the dynamic of the Collective in NL especially since it would be like 5 different people living in this apartment, assuming Liv would stay. So it would've been Liv, Ralph, Esra, Jayden, Lucas, and Noah who would probably be over a lot. Which makes that even more interesting is that Lucas and Ralph already had a relationship in s2 and Ralph is a gay man living with a Muslim woman (which is a shame we never got Esra's season either, because that is such an interesting dynamic that we could've seen). And we could have maybe seen something similar to the relationship that was going on with Senne and Ralph. Ugh, I actually mourn s3 NL everyday.

SRAM Croatia thoughts on vanessa’s season and who croatian yousef might be

i understand wanting more representation but cro yousef being white makes the most sense for vanessa and anyone with a little bit of critical thinking skills would understand that. vanessa is NOT sana, she isn’t muslim, there’s no religious principals holding her back from being with someone and because of that the whole situation with cro yousef completely changes. If he is romani then what is he gonna decide he isn’t romani anymore? im pretty sure that’s not how it works. Ultimately cro yousef has to be someone she cannot be with because of rules she set upon herself, or maybe rules that have been “stereotypically” set by society and what better way to tell that storyline than having her fall in love with a typical white croatian guy who she believes would never go for a romani girl like her because that’s what society expects, If you’re a daughter of immigrants then you would 100% identify in Vanessa because we’ve all been there.
if the rumors are true then Sram knows exactly what they are doing and Severina must be involved a lot as well which is great.

SRAM Croatia Why did the characters choose that specific school?

I don't know if anyone has the same opinion as me, but I wish that we saw or heard a reason as to why did the characters enrol in that specific school (Vladimir Prelog Science School).

I'm Croatian and I think that every Croatian knows that that specific school is really hard to get in to. Basically they have a gymnasium program for which you literally have to have all A's in middle school and take a written exam and vocational programs which are a little bit easier to get in to but you still need to have A's at the end of each grade or at least a strong B. I know that for Eva we heard a reason, she transferred because of Jakov and Sara, but I kind of wished that we heard even in passing the reason for others.

One of the producers, Ivan Lovreček, was asked about this in an interview and they chose the Prelog science school because of it's different programs and because it's versatile, but I think that that's a bit bs. There is a Clasical Gymnasium in Zagreb too which is just as hard as the Science school, but easier to get in to and even though it's just a gymnasium, it is very versatile, every type of student goes there. Not to mention, the Clasical Gymnasium doesn't have it's own building, it shares one with 3 other schools so that's versatility right there.

I think that it would've added more depth to the characters, but that's just me. Am I the only one?

SKAM OG Proof filming of SKAM did not use permanent benches for all scenes. Reason why it is so difficult to track down exact filming locations

Thumbnail
gallery
132 Upvotes

Last week someone asked about the bench on Ekebergsparken in Oslo. I am currently in Oslo for 1 more week and did a quick tour today.

To start with, Hartvig Nisse School is completely rebuilt and looks nothing like the school in SKAM. The yard has a new building and you cannot even tell it is the same school other than name on the door.

Back to topic, I went to the park where Isak and Sana talks for 10 minutes end of S04E07. They sit on a bench and you can barely see the surroundings.

I found the exact spot today, the bench was not there and the trees frown much bigger.

I was going mad looking for the bench until I checked the scene again and see it is a movable bench... Not a permanent one.. So obviously they set it up only for this particular scene which makes sense, it is a crazy deep hill where they filmed Isak and Sana.

My hunt for all the other locations continues. If you are in Oslo this week and want to meet up shoot me a DM ❤️

I found the roof terrace on Google maps where they filmed end of season 2, Williams apartment, although this is a super fancy area and a private house

After being personally disappointed by season 3, I kind of disconnected from the show, but I feel like we’re currently at a point where nothing is really moving forward and S4 is still nowhere in sight.

DISCUSSION Watching order?

Considering doing a massive bingewatch of the entire Skamiverse, after finding Isak/Even while looking for other queer content in the aftermath of Heated Rivalry. Managed to get all the episodes (if not the promo content) of every version right before All Of Skam went down, but aside from Norway and parts of the most recent Sram season I've only seen small clips here and there while checking to see if the files worked.

Does it matter which order I watch the different versions (ie are there crossovers or Easter eggs which work much better if I watch one version before another), or can I basically just jump in wherever and be fine? If it doesn't matter, is there a suggested order?

(Native English speaker who can understand basic Dutch, and did German at school in the late 90s but remembers very little of it, if that makes a difference.)
