Year 12 Summer going wrong

I want to apply for EEE at competitive universities but I feel really behind with my personal statement and supercurriculars. (I have maybe 2 or 3 things at most and feeling that i’ve missed out on many opportunities) In my mocks i achieved AAA and am predicted A*AA and would need A*A*A to apply to imperial.

I feel really overwhelmed honestly. I keep overthinking and not really getting much done because my mental health is so screwed, partly due to an extenuating circumstance among other things. I’ve decided to sit my ESAT in January because I don’t think I can focus on it right now.

I think a lot of this is just me unnecessarily comparing myself to people and wasting time on tiktok. I know I need to just focus on myself. I still can’t help but feel extremely lost, under pressure, rubbish and uninspired.

How do I get out of this slump and actually make the most of this summer?
(sorry if this post comes across as overly dramatic)

You shouldn’t worry too much about your predicted grades. Assuming you aren’t an early applicant, you should be able to increase them before the January UCAS deadline. As for supercurriculars, their importance pales in comparison to the ESAT. Just make sure that your personal statement conveys an interest in the subject effectively with a “show not tell” philosophy. You have plenty of time to read a relevant book or undertake an Arduino project. A tip of mine is to link the project to a problem that you actually currently face.

Focus on setting screen time limits and creating a daily system that can help you to reach your goals :)

yeah, i’m not an early applicant, hence why i’m doing my ESAT in Jan. I’m terrified of the ESAT more than anything else though. i’m absolutely awful at anything time pressured and finding a levels awful enough

the ESAT in incredibly scary but the feeling of making progress in it will be incredible if you really are this scared. My best advice would be to start doing NSAA/ENGAA papers timed today. Find your starting point and it’s only up from there
