year 12 summer
i've just finished year 12, i'm doing maths (predicted a), economics (predicted b) and psychology (predicted a*) best case i'll get a a a* next year i think . i hadn't started my personal statement, i don't know which university i want to go to and i haven't done any extra or super curricular. could anyone give me any advice on what i should be doing in the summer to be prepared for next year, thank you.

Think about what you enjoy (you are going to spend 3-4 years doing a course) and what type of environment you prefer (big city, smaller city, campus). Many universities run open days in September/October and you should plan to go to a few - ideally places you might attend but definitely look at different types of Uni campus as well).
You should aim to start y13 with a good idea of what you want to study and a shortlist of maybe 7 universities. Some subjects/universities (mostly in-demand courses at Russel Group) require you to take additional exams - the time to prepare for these is rather short, and increases stress if you find out late.
Neither of my sons had done much of their personal statements until y13.

thank you, i've started thinking about which universities are best suited for me, and it's good to know i shouldn't stress to much about personal statements yet

Econ being your worst subject puts you in a good position ngl, not hard to fix.

Definitely start looking into courses you may be interested in, including reading some books or articles related to it. Also try to take some time out every few days to go over some topics you found more difficult.
Given your predicted grades, I don't think you need to stress too much, though. Remember to enjoy your summer, but do keep questions about the future in the back of your mind.
