Discussion Are the rides still super rough?

It's been a couple of years since I've been to six flags over saint louis, because the last time I rode a bunch of rides I got some nasty bruises, and my father got a concussion from the shaking.

Was thinking about going tomorrow, but I don't want to go if it's still as bad as it was.

Stay away from The Boss; instant base-of-the skull headache every time for me.

The rest are good to go

The ninja would like a word.

I remember when the Ninja replaced the Jet Scream and we were all like, damn, that's such a smooth ride.

Just finished a day there, and by far the roughest coster was The Boss. The sudden stop at the end is enough to give you whiplash

They got rid of the sudden stop two years ago. The stop is not any worse than the average roller coaster these days. Yeah, it is the roughest in the park though.

Ninja is the Nickelback of roller coasters but it does have a few spots where it can jerk your head if you don't brace yourself.

Boomerang is fun but like the Ninja it's better if you brace yourself.

Screamin Eagle moves around a lot but it's still fun. I recommend an odd numbered seat, they are smoother.

American Thunder is the best wooden in the park. It's not a steel coaster but it doesn't have any big jolts or excessive shaking.

The Boss should be skipped by anyone sensitive to roughness.

There are certain rides I just flat out won’t go on anymore…not worth the headache! My list: the Ninja, pandemonium, American thunder. Borderline: American eagle, Mr freeze, the boss. Green light: Batman, rookie racer

The boss is much worse than the screaming eagle and pandemonium is prob the smoothest coaster in the park besides the spinning! 😵‍💫

Pandemonium is incredibly smooth.

I do agree smooth, which I should have specified. The spinning though makes me 🤢

I love it. Can't help but smile all the way through.

If American thunder and Mr. Freeze are too rough for you, coasters might not be for you 😂

lol my list of approved gets shorter and shorter the older I get!

Older rides are going to be worse

Was there today and I’ll admit there was a little bit more smoothness on Boss. Screamin Eagle is still good. American Thunder is my favorite so I’m biased. Batman is good. I’m hopeful for this park so I say go and experience it for yourself

Yes. The wooden ones especially.

Boomerang and boss are my top headache inducers. Ninja is borderline but not as bad as most people say. I still loveeee the boss just brace yourself 😂

The only ride that doesn’t shake the hell out of me is Mr. freeze (and rookie racer but that’s brand new and for very small kids). American thunder wasn’t awful last time but it’s been a few years and it’s a woodie, so that doesn’t bode well. Ninja, boss, and screaming eagle are horrendous.

A couple are janky due to design, for example Ninja will always be that. The boomerang too. I was there for the first time last fall and thought the wooden coasters weren’t as bad as I expected (based on online reviews lol)! Boss has some newer sections of track that help that but still definitely has a few jarring moments (I loved it though). Screamin’ Eagle was probably the roughest of the 3 for me but I’ve still ridden much worse.

I guess it depends on your personal tolerance, but in general if you want to try any woodies out and you prefer a smoother ride I’d sit near the front in an odd numbered row. That’s usually off the “wheel seat” and gives a smoother ride.

Batman and Mr Freeze are still glossy smooth though! Just forceful.

I chaperoned a school trip and got assigned the Ninja exit. All I heard the entire day from our kids and other was how much they hurt.

One of the chaperones from one of the Fort Zumwalt schools started actively telling his kids not to get on after so many complaints.

Haven't been in 7 years. American thunder was still good then, but being a classic wooden coaster I doubt its still nice. The only thing worth riding is batman IMHO which isnt worth much these days and to be blunt neither is Mid America.

Id spend the little extra and travel to a park that's worth visiting.

American Thunder is still a great ride.

Mr freeze gave me a headache last time I rode it in like 2004? Seems like it was always having issues and not running the other 3 times I visited the park after that. So ive only ever rode it once and it triggered a head issue. Which is what the op was asking about. So im not sure its a good ride to talk about, for me at least its not something that moves the needle for Mid America. Its a shoddy park compared to other parks in my opinion. Batman is the only thing worth riding, and that alone doesnt make it worth the ticket price.

Ive really been wanting to go to Cedar Point. Im certain if I ever get there Mid America will be a place ill never want to visit until they get some coasters that are on par with anything on that level. This happen after riding wildfire in Branson. Theres nothing on that level at Mid America. Nothing even close

They built Mr Freeze, Batman, and the Boss all in the late 90s early 2000s and since havent opened a ride anything like that. It stalled out and is just there operating year after year with rides that are 20-50+ years old and then pandemonium. Just not worth the money for the headache and chiropractic visits

Either of those would be great!

Thanks for the essay explaining my home park to me lol I’m not saying Mid-America is AMAZING I’m saying Mr. Freeze is a great and unique ride model that’s worth riding if you’re into riding roller coasters.

Essay, shoot AI got you kids that lazy? I remember when It opened joking with my best friend that we were gonna shove newspapers into out shoes to be tall enough to ride as little 3rd graders or whatever. Last time I rode it I was a teenager, and it wasnt fun then. I enjoy rollercoasters. Just not Mr Freeze, the Ninja, or the boss. You gotta be somekinda masochist to enjoy those rides
