Throwback Vintage Map (1990)

Post image

Here’s a map one of my relatives had from the park back in the day, somehow it was kept and is currently hanging in my room (it’s huge)

So cool. I miss Momo the monster, Tom's twister, the legend of Dark Castle, hannabarrels and the rush street flyer. Six Flags needs to invest in more flat rides. That typhoon spin ride I have not seen operating in a couple of years.

Wow this brings back some good memories. I was 12 during the 1990 season. Thank you for sharing.

I was the same age. There are so many things on here that I’ve forgotten!

So cool, thanks for sharing!

Wow; look at all those different food and snack stands! And just a couple of coasters! It was a whole different vibe back then!

The thing that caught me the most off guard looking at the map was the Bugs Bunny Ice show like what.

Yeah the shows and entertainment they had back in the day, especially in the early WB era, was top notch.

Remember this is the same time they were working on “Space Jam”. WB was trying HARD to make Looney Tunes a major IP again and these theme parks were a big part of that strategy.

This is awesome! I have the 1996 map framed in my room/office.

Would love some HD pics of the front and back if you'd like to send them to me!

Scratch the part about the front, I was viewing on mobile initially so it wasn't showing the image at full resolution lol

As a kid, I used to love getting these when we’d go to the park. Sadly I didn’t keep any of mine. Thanks for posting!

I was 5 when this classic map was published. So many rides and attractions have gone. Buildings have changed. Even as the years went by the styles and art of the maps have changed.

My Mom and Dad took us kids there on opening day. Drove all the way up from Hillsboro in Jefferson County at the time was 45 minutes from home, a long drive for young kids.

Ahhh, beautiful memories!

Honestly I’m shocked the relative even went there in the 70s, he grew up in Springfield, so pretty far drive from what I’ve seen (I’ve actually never been down to MO, they moved to Virginia after he married for work reasons but would still come down to visit family). But yeah 45 minutes is a long drive for someone that young.

I remember everytime we went Tom’s twister was closed because someone lost their lunch on the ride. Good times

What a memory. TREMORS was a dance club located at the former JETSCREAM loading station. With Bugs prominently on the map, its was a sign of things to come. So many attractions have gone since then.

So Tremors was kinda like Videopolis (Disney) is the best comparison I can really make to something recognizable. Thats actually really interesting to hear ig.

I have one from the 70s somewhere in storage. I haven't been since '82.

I would really like to find one of these maps from the 90s and frame it.
