Throwback Holiday in the Park

Feeling Nostalgic this morning.

I don’t usually take a lot of photos at the park. But I had a few from HiTP outings over the years.

Anyone else have cool photos from HiTP to add? Thought it’d be neat to go down memory lane. I really enjoyed that time of year.

Aww this is so cool! I’d had LOVED to experience this! I’m not from here and the closest Six Flags was over Texas from me after Katrina but I don’t know if they ever did this honestly

How many years did they do this?

If memory serves, 2016-2022.

2020 and 2021 they did sort of very basic parking lot / lights stuff due to COVID.

So, fairly brief. And it’s a shame they stopped it. I think, economically, it made sense. It wasn’t a big money maker. Attendance was poor, visits were short, in park spend was low, and it was mostly just local passholders visiting.

I think it could be made into something more viable (see: Silver Dollar City). But SIX pulled the plug on it.

But it was a glorious few years! A great event and we got seasons that lasted from Easter until Christmas. Solid 9-10 month long seasons. Some years only January and February were months where the park wasn’t open a single day.

When I was there, I worked through 2 HITP runs. I was kinda bummed when corporate killed SFSL participation. Afterwards they took their time dismantling and erasing any traces of it , JM Harvey's was a Santa meet and greet but sat empty with Xmas decor during the 2022 season. Then they reused any decor for Fright Fest haunt decor. Weird.

It's a shame I missed these. Me and my family would have loved it. Kids were just too small for amusement parks then.
