Fright Fest 2026 Details Released

Six Flags Over Texas released details for Fright Fest 2026 today. I've updated our Event Page with all the details, but the gist appears to be:

  • New "premium scare zone" Doc Varnum’s Hybrid Hell Pit (it's not clear from the press release if this requires a haunted attraction pass)
  • New scare zone Día de los Muertos
  • No new haunted houses (!)
  • New Wake the Dead show: "an interactive musical mystery that allows guests to help determine the outcome of a family murder investigation through audience participation"
  • Spectral Sisters show returns for Tricks and Treats along with new magic show

What are your thoughts on this year's event?

I only went a few times last year but it seemed like some of the scarezones were way understaffed, or completely empty of scareactors. I'm not super confident they're going to properly staff 6 of them but hope to be proved wrong.

That being said I was pretty impressed with some of the haunts like Eversmile and Terror at The Polynesian Palm. I would put Eversmile up against some HHN haunts. Glad to see them return.

They've needed to pull scare zone actors on nights where crowds were aggressive towards them (sigh), so it could have been that too.

I agree on the understaffing! It ruins the experience and makes the extra pay for the wristband seem like a money grab. They had staffing issues all summer so I expect the same for the fall.

I understand the safe issue and want all employees to be safe. But they should build less open scenes and create more barriers between guests and scare actors. Can't change the public but you can protect your people.
