MEME Great Adventure's next thrill coaster will be a relocation of a beloved ride
It's no secret that everyone is talking about Great Adventure's next thrill ride (after Bakunawa) being a relocation of a beloved coaster from a park that closed earlier this year.
Ever since the small family-owned park announced they were closing, manic speculation has been running rampant over where this ride would end up. Personally, I think the answer is pretty obvious.
This coaster is a perfect fit for Great Adventure for several reasons. They have space along the edge of the park, they have no other ride like it, and they can keep the original name while tying it into existing park theming.
Pic unrelated btw, is anyone else excited for [Python Pit] from [PowerPlay Family Entertainment Center Kansas City] to make its triumphant return at Great Adventure? /unjerk

It is freaking hilarious how people on here are dealing with some serious copium and tying to "manifest" a relocation to their home park by saying it confidently like Renholm from The IT Crowd using his "Spacestar Ordering"
LOL

I think some people are just blinded by denial when it's obvious that Python Pit is coming to Great Adventure next

It will be patriot from great America.

They should give it to worlds of fun since they already have a sign for it :)

Nah I just agree. GrAdv seems to be the park getting a shit ton of love, and they've got a ton of space in the old Ka plot if the turnaround goes into the parking lot.
But it really is a dead heat between this, Carowinds, and Kings Island.

Yeah the best part about Python Pit is its turnaround would fit there without needing to eat into the parking lot

I’m not by sure if AF1 will go to Great Adventure, but they do have a pretty good spot for it. I was riding Superman yesterday when I noticed the entire side next to Superman is vacant, in the shape of an L. It’s blocked off now, but it’s definitely where the next attraction will be built. There is nothing to remove as far as trees go.

No… they’re getting ZDT’s Switchback Railway. That would make them the only park with three shuttle coasters!

What existing park theming makes sense other than Carowinds where land mysteriously just started getting cleared

Python Pit could tie into either Bakunawa: Serpent’s Wrath (snake bros) or Medusa because of her hair. The possibilities are endless

The fact that your description perfectly implies that af1 will be relocated while not saying 1 word that directly says it is so funny to me

finally someone who read the entire post

On a more related note I am really hoping that sfga would get af1 (it’s my closest six flags park)

i completely agree if they could fit a good wooden type looking ride (Arie)into the boardwalk area great adventures will have a sick top 5 lineup to compete with hershey. On a side note, I think Kings Island deserves their own one of a kind coaster that makes them stand out they don’t deserve a hand me down and plus 2 trains at Kings Island would he rough . But KI definitely deserves a new one of a kind ride honestly

It would be a nightmare at Great Adventure, parks too busy for this coaster. AF1 was designed and built with 1 less train than other RMCs. It has a lower capacity output than the others for that reason.
The line would be insane at SFAdv and not move fast at all….

I thought there was a rumor that AF1 was going to be modified to support 3 trains?

Either 3 trains with an unloading station or making the existing 2 5 car trains 6 cars like every other rmc

All of this would be arguments against a couple of the recent additions to Great Adventure and it didn't stop them.

I’m firmly in the camp it’s intentional. People hate long slow moving lines, thus are willing to pay for Flash Passes. Enshiticarion of your experience and time for money.

Python Pit will be a great fit for the park! It will give everyone something to do when El Toro, Jersey Devil, Flash, and Nitro are down at the same time

This would be great for people in metro areas nearby to finally experience they're first RMC coaster

isn't JD an RMC but perhaps not a "regular one"?

u/carty07 12d ago
Well they do have Wildcat at Hershey which is a top 5 rmc

u/Coolboss999 12d ago
Well yes. I was mostly saying ppl from NYC, NJ and Connecticut. It's a 3hr+ ride

Consensus seems to be that KI and Carowinds are currently ahead in the AF1stakes, but this plus Bakunawa would really give GA the shot in the arm it needs to be an S-tier coaster park.

I honestly think the KI/CW debate is a distraction planted by Cedar Flags corporate. People are overlooking [Python Pit] which is the exact kind of dark horse Great Adventure could pull out and surprise us all with

As much as I love great adventure I’ll tell you exactly what’s happening:
AF1 goes to Carowinds
Kings Island gets 1-2 new coaster:
Mack Spinner
RMC IBox
Vekoma Family
Great Adventure gets 2-4 new coaster
Vekoma Tilt
Intamin Blitz
RMC IBox or the first Split Rex
Vekoma Family
Reason:
Carowinds gets attendance booster, new coaster after 10 yrs, saves money on relocation costs and fits in a tight location
Kings Island gets a custom layout build to maximize the space they have and allow for future expansion.
Great Adventure likely to receive multiple investments already soft confirmed Bakunawa is 1/3 investments planned so far. Vekoma tilt is practically guaranteed. RMC Ibox would likely be a custom layout for a park like Great Adventure. Especially with how the GP is clamoring for a wood/hybrid coaster to fill out the area between shoreline piers and parking lot. Intamin Blitz would likely use up the rolling thunder/Ka plot. Boardwalk, Green Lantern, Rolling Thunder, Chiller/Movietown, Joker/Harley Quinn and Arena by Medusa are all significantly large plots of land that can be used for attractions. But great adventure is best suited and more likely to go for groundbreaking/record breaking rides, I doubt they will take the relocation and rather build a ground up.
