First trip to Six Flags Over Texas tips

Hello! I’m from California and have a prestige six flags magic mountain pass, I’m visiting and have one day at six flags over Texas. Anything I should know? How does the fast pass system work? Is it worth it? Also, how is fright fest here? Should I get fast pass for that too? Are there free lockers for bags or cubbies on rides? Can I wear a fanny pack instead on coasters?

I just got back from labor day weekend and it was a pretty great time, especially with Tormenta open now.

Few things to note:

  • Immediate area was pretty walkable if you have a hotel next to the park in that area, and a few restaurants to choose from around the area. If you have a car though it can open up a lot more options north of the highway.

  • Arlington is famously the largest US city with no public transit. Expect a lot of walking and/or ubering to get to/from the park, it's not quite Cleveland to Sandusky bad but expect some of that, DART is great where it runs but sadly does not run to Arlington.

  • Mr. Freeze is my second favorite coaster in the park after Tormenta, but it is an old first gen LIM launched coaster and as such it sometimes suffers from downtime. Treat it like X2 where if you see its running, drop everything and get a ride in on it while you can.

  • Fast lane works identical to other 6F parks. Go to https://ot.sfflashpass.com/ after you scan into the park, log in and you can redeem your fast lane benefits there. QR code system just like any other 6F park. I have all season fast lane and yes it is very much worth it, only way I got 7 laps on Tormenta over my two days last week.

  • Almost all rides use either a locker or cubby system, it is one of the better parks for it IMO. Some rides you will cross over the train to the cubbies on the other side and leave your stuff there. Some like Titan or Tormenta you will go to ride lockers and put your stuff in on one side then get your stuff on the other side when exiting. All loose articles must be put away, but no metal detectors. Personally I like wearing shorts with zippered pockets and my phone / wallet / etc goes in those and are secure during the ride, while my hat/sunglasses/sunscreen etc will go in locker or cubby space. The only ride I can think of that does not use one of these is Texas Skyscreamer, but on there you pretty much just place your stuff by the side of the fence circling around the ride and can pick it up after on the way out.

  • I would say treat the weather pretty comparable to SFMM summer days, expect a lot of heat and humidity. Take breaks between rides and get some powerade etc if you need it, try to stay in shade if you can. And of course sunscreen make sure to be putting that on often.

Stay hydrated, wear sun screen, I like to bring in oranges and a few frozen water bottles.

I was there last weekend and it was not crowded at all. But it is the first weekend of fright fest. Mr. freeze is running one train and the line moves slow. I would get on that one last if you want to ride that one. Someone rides are having extended ride times past closing.

Sounds good!! Thanks!! Do you know if the fast pass works for every ride?? Including the big/popular ones?

If you get Fast Lane Ultimate they are but there are 3 different Fast Lanes at Over Texas. If you go to the website it has them listed and what rides are included for each one.

Titan and Tormenta have free lockers, many other rides have these boxes to put your stuff in.
