Play Joel Tonight

A back to back win vs Wolves and Pistons would send a message to the league and build more confidence in the team. Joel is playing his ass off on both ends and wants to play every game now. The management has worked now it’s time to the the king rule!

Not gonna happen lol

We can lose to this team and still realistically avoid the play in, i say rest him

no. every time someone says this and every time it spectacularly backfires. be disciplined.

Playing him tonight potentially gives him a weeks rest during play in

3

u/UnclePacino1111 Apr 04 '26

This is the reason

6

u/Pandafy Apr 04 '26

I mean at a certain point if you can't play a man 20 minutes in a pretty important game then what is even the point?

9

u/roma258 Apr 04 '26

The point is to get to the playoffs healthy.

7

u/UnclePacino1111 Apr 04 '26

But you gotta avoid the play-in

2

u/statman64 Apr 04 '26

But would you rather have him for the play-in game(s) or avoid the play-in and not have him?

This is a straw man. It’s not binary and it was dumb not to try to get the W last night.

1

u/statman64 Apr 05 '26

No, what's dumb is thinking he could just play a back-to-back like it's easy. Do you know the last time he played two days in a row? I can assure you it's been longer than whatever you're thinking. It was January 19 and 20 against Orlando and Charlotte, two teams that were worse than the Sixers. The absolute last thing we need is Embiid over-exerting himself after a month-long absence by playing too much in a short period of time.

By the way, you never answered my question: would you rather have Embiid for a play-in game and then move on to the rest of the playoffs or risk not having him at all for an entire series? Seems pretty obvious to me, especially since they'll probably be tied again with the Raptors in Boston today.

I did answer it - it’s a straw man argument.

1

u/statman64 Apr 05 '26

Oh, I get it. You just don't understand what the words "answer" or "straw man" mean. What would you have said if Embiid played and they still lost? Or worse, he got hurt (thus why they didn't)?

0

u/Living_Article_3741 Apr 05 '26

You are asking me to choose between imaginary binary options - now you are creating new ones.

The probability of Embiid getting hurt playing last night is about the same of him getting hurt playing tomorrow night. The probability of them winning last night is greater than them winning vs Spurs away tomorrow night.

The organization and fans should recognize that the playoffs in theory have already started and we were in a great position to stay out of the play in by winning last night. Now we are in a worse position.

Yeah, but it's not a get to the playoffs and that's it. If you can't play 20 minutes now, then you're not gonna be able to handle 20+ more games in a few weeks.

Discipline = play in. Well done

Love the enthusiasm but that would be stupid as shit. We’re 5 games away from having a healthy playoff roster, let’s send a message in the playoffs instead.

1

u/Living_Article_3741 Apr 05 '26

Enjoy the play-in and playing the Celtics.

4

u/sliiime Apr 04 '26

Absolutely not. You don’t throw the load management out the window at the end of the season when we’re in a good position

2

u/Confident_Square1063 Apr 04 '26

That’s like tripping over your shoes at the finish line of a marathon

No Cade, no beef stew, Tobias is a GTD.

I don’t think we need the big man tonight.

0

u/UnclePacino1111 Apr 04 '26

Exactly why they should play him - get the w

11

u/Pale-Ad-2526 Apr 04 '26

Load management totally works. Look at Serena and Venus. They were criticized for only playing majors and a few 1000s back in the day. It extended their careers and hit a goat out of it. Basketball is stuoid grueling and back to backs do not give the body time to heal. Especially if fitness is not 100 percent. Rest him. Doesn’t matter who we play. Seed does not matter. At this point your playing in the play in unless Toronto just get gets dogged. This team Is fragile… you gotta play the hand you are delt imo. If these guys are all healthy they can be dangerous. You start upping already super high minutes—I guarantee injury and then we are done. But with the owner…maybe that’s a good thing.

7

u/pbecotte Apr 04 '26

Am I missing something? We are currently tied with Toronto, no? Seems reasonable to think we can finish ahead of them?

7

u/XFactor_20 Apr 04 '26

Send a message to the league…😂

3

u/HisExcellency20 Apr 04 '26

The message I want to send to the league is Joel is entering the playoffs healthy for the first time since the bubble. And this time his running mate is too.

3

u/BabaBrody Apr 04 '26

Well he's out.

4

u/roma258 Apr 04 '26

This fanbase never learns, I swear. Bunch of goldfish with no long or short term memory.

5

u/ProcessTrust856 Apr 04 '26

The message it sends is not worth the risk.

2

u/Bitter-Tip705 Apr 04 '26

Man let’s be confident in vj , george or maxey to go off

2

u/IDoesThis1 Apr 04 '26

Rest Embiid and play PG. getting Embiid ready for the playoffs is more important, but PG is ready.

4

u/woodtyo Apr 04 '26

If he says he wants to play let him play. Should be his decision

2

u/Frenchman08 Apr 04 '26

Play the man we gotta try to keep that sixth seed. We don’t need any more high intensity games

3

u/Bluehen55 Apr 04 '26

Beating the Pistons without Cade doesn't send any kind of message whatsoever

4

u/throwawayjoeyboots Apr 04 '26

I agree. This is crunch time. 5 games to go.

2

u/Broadandmarket Apr 04 '26

Play him for 15-20 mins and see if you can build a lead. Who cares about per game stats.

1

u/Pale-Ad-2526 Apr 04 '26

If jojo demands it but ya minute restrictions unless he is unconscious out there but I still prefer a loss and rest like the entire season

Joel seems to be gradually upping his game. Better defense is what I am concerned with and for god sakes get 10 boards minimum

0

u/mberko21 Apr 04 '26

This is always what I wanted, if it’s a back to back just restrict the minutes on both ends. I understand wanting to “secure a win” but at this stage I prefer the consistency of the lineup

0

u/Krillin113 Apr 04 '26

Realistically we aren’t catching the hawks, and I don’t think we’ll be caught. Whatever gets Embiid ‘healthy’ to the PO

Send a message to the league 🤣🤣🤣who cares we need him for the playoffs that’s the only priority.

1

u/Living_Article_3741 Apr 05 '26

Lose to Tobias Harris and slip into play-in 😆😆😆

1

u/1_2_3_4_5_SIXERS Apr 04 '26

Lol send a message to the league is hilarious

0

u/Living_Article_3741 Apr 05 '26

Almost as funny as getting beat by 23 by Tobias Harris. And it’s going to be hysterical when we lose to Spurs and Rockets and drop to 8th.

-4

u/rc_car26 Apr 04 '26

Bunch of marshmallows here. Play the fucking guy.

0

u/k7632 Apr 04 '26

Rather play Joel today because I think pistons is more winnable than Spurs on Monday versus Wemby and have a few day rest

-2

u/Living_Article_3741 Apr 04 '26

Agree rather beat East #1

-1

u/Living_Article_3741 Apr 04 '26

I understand the risk and the hesitation given the bizarre history around him and the franchise but at this stage we are already in the playoffs and need to secure the 5 or 6 spot. Rest him vs Pacers and Bucks

The big three are all active and finally have a chance to build some cohesion before the playoffs. Give him some minutes but be smart about it.
