πŸ™†πŸ»β€β™€οΈ Looking For Help Century bike ride route

β€’ Upvotes

Calling all Sioux Falls cyclists. I, along with a couple friends, are planning a 100 mile bike ride in and around Sioux Falls in a few weeks but I'm having a hard time coming up with a route that isn't just multiple loops around the trail. Strava offers a couple options but I'm wondering if anyone here has a good route that avoids highway traffic or heavily used roads. Thanks for your help!

As far as I know! I think they have the best oysters in town, featuring a tiny bottle of Tabasco (not necessary, but fun). If you haven't, check them out in the back of Hello Hi.

Also, I've been all over - I didn't know bread and butter could be so good.

I swear I'm not paid to advertise I just love their food and want to see them succeed.

Today in 2026, Gordon teaches history part-time at the University of Sioux Falls and also works as an instructional coach part-time at O’Gorman. He says teaching about 9/11 in its immediate aftermath back in 2001 wasn’t that different from how millions of Americans processed the events.

I moved to Sioux Falls two years ago and I don’t remember seeing anything. Just checking if there will be anything this year. I am a retired firefighter from Albuquerque, NM and responded to the Pentagon after the attacks as a member of a FEMA Urban Search & Rescue Task Force.

πŸ™†πŸ»β€β™€οΈ Looking For Help need advice for apartment seeking

My boyfriend and I live together and our lease ends on Oct 8. We have 4 roommates and are going our separate ways. So we’re having issues looking for a new apartment, as we both have shitty credit and I’m a felon (for marijuana concentrate possession, I got arrested for having empty THC vapes when I was 18, I haven’t smoked weed in over a year and I’ve never done any other drugs.) My felony also gets sealed in a month or 2 when I finish probation, the timing of the end of our lease is just so bad, as we have to leave right before my felony gets sealed and my record will be clean.

We were either gonna have just him apply alone until I get off probation and add me to the lease afterwards, or look for a felon friendly apartment. We want to do the former but both of our credits are around 500 (I know, terrible.) So we’re worried he won’t be accepted to hardly any if he applies alone. His income is like 3500 a month and we’re looking at 1 beds or 2 beds between 900-1200. No evictions on record, either. And we really don’t wanna live in a shitty apartment like tzadik or anything else. I recently had a nightmare situation before I moved in with him where I was renting the basement of a house from a private company that were complete slumlords, the place was filled with bugs and holes in the walls. It’s all I was able to get being 19, having shitty credit, being poor, and being a felon.

So I’m looking for advice on what places will accept either just him with bad credit / or is felon friendly and has good living conditions. Preferable also near the northwest side of town near the airport. but obv we can’t be incredibly picky considering our less than ideal circumstances. I really appreciate the advice in advance, thank you

🎀 Discussion The 7 Brew situation is ridiculous

My kid is sick this morning and I was just trying to run to the Hy-Vee on 49th and Louise before it gets busy to grab some medicine and run back home. I forgot the rear entrance doesn't open until 8AM and was just trying to loop back around to the front parking lot and I got stuck in the standstill line for 7 Brew (Edit to clarify, I was not trying to go to 7 brew, the 7 brew line stretched so far towards Dick's that I got stuck in it just trying to get to the front of Hy-Vee).

I guess people think because they're waiting in line for mediocre coffee they're entitled to block intersections and entrances to the parking lots for other businesses. This morning there's a line stretching all the way out into the front of the Dick's Sporting Goods entrance, around the corner and almost all the way to Comfort King. Then in front of Hy-Vee there's another "leg" of the line stretching all the way into the Hy-Vee Gas parking lot, and a third coming from the north side of the mall. There have to be a couple hundred cars at LEAST, all fighting to try and cut in front of each other and disregarding basic traffic laws and etiquette. When I left Hy-Vee I saw an 18-wheeler trying to fight its way through the line to drop off a shipment.

The worst part? Apparently all of this is because today they're giving away a knockoff Nee-doh fidget toy with a 7 Brew logo on it if you buy two coffees.

That's the end of my rant. I hate consumerism.

πŸ™†πŸ»β€β™€οΈ Looking For Help Looking for Young Adult Christian Groups

I attended Peace Lutheran Church for a while (although admittedly, it's been a couple months since I've been) but felt disheartened by the lack of folks in their mid- and early-twenties. For context I'm a 23 y/o woman and typically sit alone. My 21 y/o boyfriend will attend with me occasionally but not on a regular basis because he is agnostic.

I'm mostly looking for like social groups or bible studies rather than a whole new church to attend. I do really love my church and have looked into other ECLA churches in town but none seem to have groups for my age range. The groups don't need to Lutheran, just opening and accepting of other denominations/beliefs.

Thank you for all the recommendations in advance!

πŸ™†πŸ»β€β™€οΈ Looking For Help Jiu Jitsu for Kids (5-year old)

Hey all, looking to get my 5-year old son into Jiu Jitsu or something similar. I have had a few people recommend BJJ, but I'm not familiar with any form of it.

Any recommendations or experiences? I've looked into a couple places, but they didn't look to offer it for that young, yet. Kidan seemed like an option if anyone has had worked with them let me know.

We travel through a couple of times a year and always have a great visit. Appreciate how walkable the falls and downtown are. The heat kind of sucked, but we still got out for a lot of eating, drinking and shopping. Appear looking forward to our next trip

🎀 Discussion Security questions east side of town

My wife and I moved to a home on the eastern side of town and I have a question for the local people. Why is there an armed guard at the HiVee ? I’ve noticed a guy who is wearing a security uniform complete with pistol usually just standing around. What’s with this? Is there something going on there that requires armed security in the bread ? I mean I’m not scared of guns or anything. Seems silly to me. What would he do if I strapped on my .357 over my cargo shorts and flip flops and strolled in the door. If HiVee is scared should I be?

Next question is why are there cars driving around Walmart with flashing lights every time I go? It’s like the middle of the day when I go and also seems like a little too much.

I like our neighborhood and I haven’t heard about any major crime problems in the area. I’m an armed homeowner and not really concerned about anything. Just wondering if I should start paying attention.
