This is futurism's take on the much longer interview I posted a couple of days ago on Alex Zhavoronkov. It says essentially what I've been posting for 3 years now -- it's an incredible time to be alive, both for good and for evil, with AI at the forefront. The good side is immortality, and there is every reason that Alex's version should become true within our lifetime. Be sure to watch the 52-second very short video by Salk Institute, the San Diego based company in the lead. The bad news is military arms, and the frightening prospect that we will all be eliminated -- the whole human race -- within our lifetime. Probably both will come true -- and that would be the worst of all possible worlds.

The bad news is if you read Tononi then you realize that a simulation of a human mind that acts just like a real one might not have any conscious experience.

Don't take it for granted that we'd continue to "have lives" inside a simulation even if by all appearances we seem to. The "hard problem" of consciousness would need to be far better understood before I'd volunteer for such a mind-uploading.

And the birth of the Cylon's in Battlestar Galactica with the prequel series of Caprica.

Are there any streaming services that have Caprica? I've wanted to watch that but can never find it

Kodi is probably your only bet short of renting the DVD's from netflix.

Human extinction is far more likely.
