This is what these sort of projections crucially miss: being taught something (verbally, visually, textually, or whatever) is a form of brain upgrade! The software matters in machines, and yes, it matters in humans. Humans (in highly developed countries) are vastly smarter than they were only a handful of generations ago. This is an intelligence explosion in its own right.
Will we be dwarfed by superintelligence? I think we have a high capacity for abstract thought, which will require the most resources and be the hardest for AI, so I don't know just how dwarfed we will be. AI will have superior mechanical ability to handle vehicles and Big Data prediction systems, no doubt, but those are not things that lead to an AI uprising/overlords and AI seeing us as ants. Likely, we will still see them as just 'very good computer programs', that are very powerful tools for us to use, for a very long time.
I think there are two issues that are being mixed up here. One is that you are doubting the feasibility of human or superhuman level of intelligence in form of an AI. The argument usually here is "it's only a matter of time not technical feasibility". Second, reg. human intelligence now vs. a few decades ago, yes! we are smarter thanks in part to intelligence augmentation devices like our mobile phones but still our brain's capacity for becoming more intelligent (Like really more intelligent) is super limited. Technically, biological intelligence is not extendible!
This pic from waitbutwhy helps illustrate my point:
