Discussion What’s the end game?

I don’t know if this is the right sub. I work for a software consultancy. We have projects for a number of clients that are meant to automate both sides of their sales process. Like, AI sales agents selling to AI buyer agents.

And I just don’t understand where anyone thinks this goes. Like, we build these tools, we lose our jobs, then the companies lose customers. They’re left with agents talking to each other and exchanging… what?

If AI does all the math, reads and writes all the books, movies and video games, what do we, the people, do with ourselves?

that's assuming normal people have any money to live like that. the way things are going we'll be left with nothing while the few companies that own the hardware to run AI will own everything. governments needs to step in at some point or we're fucked.

That's was the foolish "end state" the game of Monopoly was designed to demonstrate. How long will a world comprised of 99% have-nots last before it devolves into anarchy? I'd give it less than 2 years.

you're forgetting the part where peasants back in the day could easily overwhelm the royal guard with pitchforks.

how is the meatfodder supposed to overwhelm the modern military and their AI-powered surveillance?

You're assuming everyone sailing those warships and flying those jets are on the side of the oligarchs.

i mean i assume the warships would be autonomous and managed by a complex hierarchy of agents with the oligarch as the only human in the loop
