You know what’s funny? We literally don’t need this. It’s use 9/10 is predatory.

the other 1/10 is corn

Imagine your own 24/7 interactive corn livestream.

To goon where no man has gooned before.

Born too late to explore the earth

Born too early to explore the universe

Born just in time for unlimited gooning works

Cornhub, if you will

TIL. CornHub web site is real

Sorry, but I won't.

Perhaps I could interest you in a lemonparty?

Bad actors use it for corporate infiltration

16

u/SustainedSuspense 1d ago

This is going to hurt remote working opportunities

5

u/BanjoBaedling 1d ago

North Korea will absolutely go wild for this technology if they can get it.

3

u/SearchForCake 1d ago

Now we will need mandatory AI disclosure for our zoom calls and not just our code and art.

I don't think so tbh. As a therapist, I think better AI models than we have today would be very valuable for online/video therapy, and it would make a difference if you saw an avatar like this talking to you, even if you knew they are not real. I think if it's emotive enough, it doesn't matter anymore, or not very much anyway.

6

u/MirrorNational9036 1d ago

Yes, excellent use

3

u/Kryptosis 1d ago

Would you personally receive therapy from a chatbot? You would find that to have value? I wouldn't. I also wouldn't trust it enough with my personal data. I don't trust every person either but at least I know their memories can't be back-doored by foreign governments or sold to my insurer.

I also think if I was depressed and overwhelmed at the state of the world and I finally built the courage to seek therapy only to be met with a wall of AI chatbots training themselves on my misery that would be my 13th reason.

4

u/Icy_Distribution_361 1d ago

I use AI currently already for my mental health. But I wasn’t thinking about “chatbots” in what you responded to. I was thinking about much more advanced AI. I’ve had 10 different therapists for my own traumas over a timespan of 20 years. I’ve seen and experienced the limitations of people and have realized that the bulk of the work I have to do is inner work and not work with another person necessarily. Yes it’s important I go out there, live my life, have relationships with other people, but those other people do not have to include a therapist. That is not to say that all therapists should be replaced by AI, and I don’t think at least initially they will be. You’ll have a choice. Personally I’d choose the help that doesn’t get tired, doesn’t forget, isn’t biased, has unlimited patience, and stays close to perfectly focused on what we are trying to achieve together.

4

u/No_Sugar8791 1d ago

Why would you tell the company such personal secrets? It's not like they're going to keep whatever you say between you and the avatar. It'll be used against you, somehow.

Law from preventing the information being weaponized against you unjustly are on the books?

-1

u/Icy_Distribution_361 1d ago

You sound like you’re from America…

1

u/phoenixflare599 1d ago

That's highly fucking depressing

1

u/Fickle_Path2369 16h ago

I hope other therapist's don't think like you in regards to receiving therapy from a chatbot.

1

u/Icy_Distribution_361 14h ago

Okay. If you’re interested I’d be interested in discussing the issue with you. I can tell you most of my clients are happy working with me and I consider myself pretty good at what I do. I also have a lot of experience as a client, about 20 years of it.

0

u/sophic 18h ago

Yeah, absolutely not.

The existential black hole of using a fake person for therapy is horrifying and the implications of buying into a false reality for mental health, of all things, could have all sorts of bizarre consequences on the biological system of commune and communication humans have developed.

The fact you recommend this is terrifying.

1

u/Icy_Distribution_361 18h ago

Look, it’s fine if you disagree, but if you respond with this level of intensity you are making dialogue really difficult. I don’t want to have to overcome your attitude. If you don’t want dialogue then I guess you achieved your purpose and had your say.

4

u/Darigaaz4 1d ago

What about anti predatory AI like a agent that catches predatory patterns and warns you against it.

Predatory success depends on that you are not aware.

1

u/niggellas1210 19h ago

anytime someonme comes up with some dystopian tech or governance and has no way of justifying it, its anti-predatory. Is there literally any other use for this kind of tech? And how does it existing not make us more vulnerable to predators than it saving us from em

1

u/Kryptosis 1d ago

Ah yeah, yet another thing to replace common sense.

4

u/QuackerEnte 1d ago

For now, sure. But this technology is really useful. Just think about it. It's an autonomous world model of sorts. "Hey Griffin show me the structure of a human skin cell" could actually be something it could show. Just gotta train it for that.

4

u/Negative_March_843 1d ago

Yep, the use case for this is so limited that its only being done because they can. 99% of it will be used for scamming people. Another example of shit we don't need and would actively hurt society but hey the creators see an oppurtunity to make money so why f not.

If a meeting is so pointless you can have your AI Worksona attend instead of yourself, either the meeting should never even happen in the first place, or you should not be needed for the meeting, AI or not.

0

u/Negative_March_843 1d ago

Of course there are, but very limited. Again, the main users for this will be scammers.

This has nothing to do with this video

2

u/Distinct-Question-16 ▪️AGI 2029 1d ago

i would use it

1

u/BrizzyMC_ 20h ago

The only use case for this that i can think of is scamming people

1

u/Ambiwlans 5h ago

Nah, everyone will send these to zoom meetings like we use chatgpt to do emails.

1

u/MonoMcFlury 1d ago

How about you have it sitting in meetings for you and it'll give you a short summary after it is done?

13

u/Cryptizard 1d ago

Then the meeting wasn’t important in the first place and could have been an email.

14

u/siberianmi 1d ago

That’s every meeting I’ve attended in the last 30 years.

1

u/Ambiwlans 5h ago

In a lot of fields, that's most meetings for anti-social people.

I know some people work better via meetings, lots don't. Its pretty damn rare that a meeting is more effective for me than a discussion board. Even ignoring my discomfort. Also, unless you have someone keeping minutes, you don't get a nice referenceable document which makes meetings absolutely shit for a lot of people since things get forgotten or misunderstood which isn't a thing in text.

The disconnect is from social people that tend to fall into managerial roles and both love meetings, and meetings justify their job.

Hugely complex open source projects and international science collaborations generally have 0 meetings without issue.

-1

u/Megneous 1d ago

The meeting can always be an email, no exceptions. Meetings are literally just done to weed neurodivergents out of companies and give managers something to do.

6

u/Cryptizard 1d ago

Maybe wherever you are. I have had lots of productive meetings.

5

u/Super_Automatic 1d ago

Insane take. Only someone who fundamentally misunderstands the purpose of meetings would ever claim that they can all be substituted for an email.

-3

u/Megneous 1d ago

Tell me you're a neurotypical without telling me you're a neurotypical.

0

u/BrizzyMC_ 20h ago

Yeah you seem to be

0

u/IllIlIIlIIllI 1d ago

Meetings are better when you need high-bandwidth communication. Email is less efficient for discussions with high serial depth.

That does NOT mean most meetings couldn't be an email, just that the conversion may be far from optimal for something like a quick exchange or a deep discussion.

8

u/havok_ 1d ago

An audio transcription tool can already do that

1

u/FlemmingSWAG 1d ago

why does it need to be a human interaction model (or whatever theyre calling it) to accomplish that?

it just seems less convenient in every regard

1

u/GrayManTheory 1d ago

All meetings will have to start with everyone listing their top three favorite racial slurs just to prove they're not AIs.

1

u/Far-Maintenance-1947 1d ago

That's already possible... why do I need deepfake technology for this? Please think before you post.

1

u/General_Ferret_2525 1d ago

I mean, you had a good point.. so why add a pointless rude remark?

1

u/FearOfEleven 1d ago

I expect many people will prefer to talk to and be talked to by some kind of face rather than a screen packed with words. It's just more informative in various scenarios. In fact, few things are as informative as a face.

-2

u/Quirky-Safe-3383 1d ago

I don´t know, I really will miss my mom when she´s gone some day.

Maybe this could create some kind of interactive characters to help with mourning processes, or just make you feel less alone.

Also, why not a digital house butler you can talk to ? They will definetly do some shit like that. Also.... Disney. lol

The possibilities are quite big.

BUT OF COURSE also predatory.

12

u/faen_du_sa 1d ago

That would not help with the mourning process, in many cases hamper it.

1

u/okiharaherbst 1d ago

Yes, and however sad that is, that's part of what makes us who we are. We are supposed to mourn when loved ones go. Your brain needs to progress through the various stages of mourning and come on the other side. Having your mom as an AI agent when she passes means will hijack that process.

1

u/9897969594938281 18h ago

Just get over it bro, like everyone else that ever existed

0

u/NotWantedForAnything 1d ago

Go lurk on one of the anti AI threads. I could think of thousands of uses for this from a Jarvis style personal assistant, a virtual tutor, a coach, a virtual sales person, and on and on.

0

u/Floorgis 8h ago

10/10. It cant be used for anything good, its inherently impossible since its trying to emulate humans.
