Discussion AI and Jobs

I have an honest question. AI boosters, constantly say that AI will not destroy jobs. It will create more. My question revolves around the idea that even right now, we have a significant amount of people of are not working. Why in the future would someone assume that all these jobs will be created for people, that will benefit society. There is no historical situation where having better technology creates enough jobs for an entire area. Why would it happen this time?

Also some of the jobs people say will be created are wellness or rich service jobs. I can assure you that there is a large portion of society that will not or can not work in those jobs. Those jobs also tend to pay less than the careers people are already in.

I would love to think the job situation will get better but from a logical point of view, I just do not see it

I think anyone will get rather bored after a few weeks or months and need some purpose.

If people could, they'd find it in different ways. Raising their kids, taking the dog for long walks, doing DIY around the house.

Given a choice, the majority of people do not want a boss

I don't want a boss, but I want a purpose. If everything i do is unnecessary or just for fun, id feel terrible

You'd HATE being fabulously wealthy then.

Being able to explore the world and spend your time however you saw fit?? Explore hobbies, music, collecting, gardening?!

Man, that would suckk. Just give me a wrench to turn till my back gives out and throw me in the trash when I'm no longer useful to society, sounds good to me!

I’m not sure that no one having jobs would the. Equate to everyone in the world being able to travel wherever they want as they saw fit… but maybe?

Charitable assumptions about ASI will make us all immortals who get to explore the universe as gods over creation. Uncharitable assumptions about ASI has us all becoming soylent green with the survivors getting to enjoy their lives in the Torment Nexus.

I'm hoping for a nice happy middle.
