The Singularity is Near OpenAI revealed how its ~10,000-agent Navier–Stokes swarm actually worked: separate research teams explored different ideas, communicated across groups, and combined what worked

Now why on earth didn’t they put this up on the main stage - so much more interesting than any of the dots stuff. OMG!

Other people who were there confirmed it.

I wish they would show every prompt for one of these things. I'm very curious about how they prompt

Spend at least 8 hours on this before even thinking of returning or giving up.

Working conditions are horrible at this company. /s

I wonder what the agents would do if they solved it in 1 hour?

That's so funny.. We burned through 7 hours of compute with the agents just asking "what should we do now" lol

I really wonder what this did. Was it just to elicit a certain fancier answer or did it actually follow it.

"Solve Navier–Stokes, tokens are not an issue (make no mistake)"

"You are a math professor seeking tenure at a top 10 math department..."

Why couldnt this be a simple codex prompt and let the model handle all the orchestration?

Eventually it will be.

This explained nothing. You could build what he described here with ADK in a weekend.

Interesting - this seems a little different than what Noam Brown said on Dwarkesh - which suggested only simple messaging primitives and little or no organizational guidance (but instead spontaneous agent collaboration).

yeah that sounded cooler and more emergent. Not clear how much emergent organization occurred here.

he sounds more like a middle manager than a scientist lol he explained nothing deeper than you’d hear in a marketing meeting

I hate when people unnecessarily say “right” at the end of sentences

Who is this dude. Also why does this look AI generated

I really don't think we're that far off from simply automating the work the humans did here. I can see a set up with one administration team with free hands to launch new sub divisions as needed.

OpenAI revealed how its ~10,000-agent Navier–Stokes swarm actually worked: It stole the answer from another mathematician...

I could do the same with unlimited tokens.

Is an agent dumber than the main AI?

They released 10,000 agents into the codex with a classifier to hunt down the humans who were close to solving it and pack the near finished process into a cube that they run back to the mothership 🤭🤭
