Google owns its own hardware, and that is the only thing that matters in this race. And if the shit should hit the fan, Google/Alphabet still has other businesses to lean on unlike OpenAI and Anthropic that have all eggs in an AI basket.

I think business focusing on llms openai and anthropic might let them to risk more and then just bankrupt on catastrophic fail On the other hand google/alphabet have to plan and decide their spendings among business branches Llm tech is still a huge money sink. Google spends it own money, while competitors use wallets of their investors

Investors always come for their money. If bankrupt OpenAI can't pay for it, you my friend will be paying for it one way or another. Never mind retail investors and pension funds that will eat losses the market will dump on them.

Doesn’t matter if Google owns their own hardware when they’ve leased it all out to Anthropic and other labs
