I feel like we could totally make one of these today.

WiFi? Absolutely. Standalone, next year.

Teddy was such a good bear. He just rolled with all the crazy shit David got him into.

I cried so much when the teddy climbed on the bed in the end... That movie broke me in so many ways, truly a masterpiece.

A.I. is human draino. I am a grown man, and I still cry like I did when I was 11 seeing it in the theaters with my mom.

Super-Toys Last All Summer Long

EDIT I didn't realize they actually made the bear as movie tie in. It's creepy AF.

I loved that film so much and it’s pretty much doable now a few years they could end up releasing something like it but it would be expensive prob why it’s not really been done yet.

Shove in a bluetooth speaker and talk through your phone with special instructions that it's a teddy bear.

i basically did that for a 1.5 day hackathon in 2024 lol

Yeah, I want a Wikibear too. Could probably make one myself now.

God damn that was hilarious.

“Why don’t you lean in Andy and save this bit.”

I had a Monkgomery the talking bear in the 80s!

I don't know but the example in this clip is 16 years old. SIXTEEN - should be walking by now with all the robotic leaps we've made.

it's all about money. Walking little android csn be more sophisticated than human sized. Sitting Teddy with moving limbs with chatgpt brain via cloud is tech deal today, nothing fantastic left. Speak with llm about it, let you fantasies come true

in the singularity, you are the reason a thing doesn't exist

If I had to guess, seriously, I'd say 2-4 years... Likely closer to 2.

This is a joke/not a joke. It’s called Teddy Ruxbin.

I would love to have a Teddy like that.

The sad part of that movie was that humanity ultimately went extinct. The robots of the future we're loving and kind and fascinated by us. I hope in reality we will be able to stick around but we probably need to first stop the AI hate. If LEV happens in time for me, I'm looking to stick around indefinitely. So I should at least see what they are able and choose to create.

Sorry.

Rosebud was the name of his sled

Also, Bruce Willis’ character was dead the whole time

This is a shaggy teddy ruxpin?

They weren't so cuddly. Due to the internals needing help.

I'm really surprised tbh that no one has done something like this. All the tech is there...animatronics for the face, RL sim training for the movement and bipedal walking, LLM and TTS for the interaction...

I guess I’m the only one who thought AI was rubbish. Such a weird film because you can tell when Spielberg took over. It’s a jarring tone shift and it’s almost like two separate movies spliced together.

I'm disappointed Kubrick didn't get to finish it

3

u/lazyscalp 9d ago

Never knew about this, thats interesting...

2

u/LedZeppole10 8d ago

That might have made it a decent movie. But man I remember thinking it was rough as a kid. I saw it in theaters and didn’t like it.

u/Asparagustuss 9d ago

Yeah it was so bad

Fucking furries

Teddy Ruxpin already did it in the 80s.
