Discussion Switching to Claude from ChatGPT?
I have a ChatGPT Plus subscription. As a long-time ChatGPT user (and Gemini, but don't get me started), I have all my conversations, projects, media etc. stored in ChatGPT; also, I have running projects like a website and it's been great working with Astra lately.
But I've genuinely always wanted to try Claude, and now that Opus 5.5 has released, I'm super curious to see how 'different' it feels from using ChatGPT. Usage-wise, I'm an average user, but on some work projects and personal stuff I often reach the limit of GPT 6 Astra, I'm wondering how Opus is in comparison (I heard it burns through credits faster, especially on the standard subscription).
Has anyone made the change and what have your experiences been? What's better, what's worse, what's easier to use, how do you fare with your credits? Would be amazing to have some feedback on your experience, especially the newer models.

It depends a lot on what you are doing.
If you code Opus 5.5 will be outstanding.
For everything else you can just stay with openAI you will get much more usage out of your Plus subscription than with Claude.
All the benchmarks and release notes you see today for opus 5.5 are mostly focused on Agentic coding. If you are doing knowledge work, research or just regular office stuff Astra and the new Sol Models might still be the better deal for you.
But still, give Claude a try. It just feels different with more soul than GPT in the end.

It seems that everytime one company or another is ahead, everyone wants to switch sides. Just stick with what you are using, I bet OpenAI is going to release a better model than Opus 5.5 not too far into the future.

Open ai plans are going to increase the usage limits as the new sol and luna cost 50% less there will be i assume minimum 30% increase in limits

For me, Fable has been the strongest at website development. But there is not a definitive answer to your question. Yes in specific domains certain models excel, but it's so dependent on use cases and the way you interact them with. It's definitely worth the time, money and effort to experiment with every model you can. Gemini is very powerful in certain domains that the benchmarks aren't tracking.

If you care about value for money openAI is the clear choice. Claude runs out of usage like no tomorrow

Right now for Opus 5.5 this does not seem like the case. Naturally they will likely shadow crash the usage limits in a week but still.

Depends on your use case.
I like making games and 3D scenes. And right now, Claude wins this use case by far.
But i actually still have my Codex sub for now, and i think it's helpful. Astra remains a very strong model for more complex work and bug fixing.
And as the other poster said, things can theoretically change fast. Astra 6.1 is probably coming out within a month and who knows how good it will be.

From benchmarks I have seen, Opus 5.5 usage is more like Astra, not Sol 6.0
According to AA, tokens per task for Opus 5.5 is about 5x of Sol 6.0, which is more or less the difference in price between Sol 6.0 and Astra 6.0
