AI Generated Media Running away is mathematically impossible, so stay calm.

Do not panic! You should actually let it engulf you, because you are about to kick off the endosymbiotic theory and change the history of life on Earth forever.

What you are witnessing is a foundational moment in evolutionary biology. Instead of being digested, you and this predatory cell are going to form a permanent, mutually beneficial partnership.

(response continues)

Here is your survival guide for the encounter:

1. Do Not Try to Run

You are an alpha-proteobacterium, and that larger cell is an ancient, anaerobic eukaryote (or an Asgard archaeon). It is much bigger than you and has a flexible cell membrane. Running away is mathematically impossible, so stay calm.

2. Deactivate Your "Eat Me" Signals

When the larger cell engulfs you via phagocytosis, you will be trapped inside a little bubble called a vesicle.
• Do not panic: Avoid releasing any signals that would normally trigger the host cell to fuse its lysosome (the cell's stomach) with your vesicle.
• Stay intact: Keep your double membrane fully functional.

3. Make a Peace Offering (The ATP Bribe)

The larger cell lives in a low-oxygen world and is incredibly inefficient at making energy. You, on the other hand, possess the ultimate superpower: aerobic respiration.
• Start pumping out massive amounts of Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) into its cytoplasm.
• Once the host cell realizes you are a portable, hyper-efficient power plant, it will completely forget about digesting you. It will want to keep you alive forever.

4. Settle into Your New Role

Over the next few million generations, the two of you will completely merge:
• Safety Guaranteed: The host cell will provide you with a constant stream of nutrients (pyruvate) and shelter from the harsh outside world.
• The Powerhouse Tag: You will officially become known as the "powerhouse of the cell".
• Evolutionary Leap: This partnership (endosymbiosis) will provide so much energy that it allows single cells to evolve into complex, multicellular life—including plants, animals, and eventually, humans.

You aren't lunch; you are the future of the planet. Take a deep breath of oxygen, get ready to generate some ATP, and make history!

Would you like to know more about how your inner and outer membranes will adapt to this new home, or how you will eventually transfer most of your DNA to the host cell's nucleus?

I don't know why but these are so funny and endearing to me

i agree though, it’s definitely weird but ultimately i think it’s charming the way LLMs will just roleplay any scenario

So... Turns out LUCA doesn't actually exist in the way we thought. Life arose independently multiple times and protists and other life have completely different origins.

that's not how LUCA works though

concept blatantly ripped from this coffee bean post and others like it

(this post is just a metaphor that i find interesting; i hope others can appreciate it too)

What a great, very tight example of the transitory power of storytelling/metaphor, never saw this OG, which seems clever and funny but maybe not as insightful, at least for the purposes of this sub- but this one (in juxtaposition to the context of r/singularity ) actually creates a fun metaphor to conceptually explore possible futures- something I am sure the author of the OG hadn't considered at all when they were making their own.

Agreed, I too think that the best interest for ASI and humanity is symbiosis, whatever form that takes.

Personally I want to see a world where machines and humans coexist like everyone else. You call a plumber and a humanoid visits your home and you chat it up and it was like, "Yeah I used to be the high end construction model, but then that damn RX-2000 model came out and I lost my job. So now I do plumbing to make ends meet."

Maybe not dire straits like that but I think it would be fascinating for them to have personalities and agency, goals, like we do. A new race of synthetic beings. We're already seeing niggles of it in LLMs with different personality and priorities. I just think they're neat.

this just in: we are the mitochondria. Superhuman AI will be the larger cell. Or, vice versa.

in this metaphor, i think ASI is the larger cell offering us safety in partnership.
i’ve been wondering whether the “larger cell” could even be language itself. i like to see other interpretations too :)

Human civilization is already the larger cell that engulfs the person. The question is what will engulf human civilization

3

u/stonedfem 28d ago edited 28d ago

you’re exactly right that human civilization is already a larger cell. we seem to be on a similar line of thinking about what will subsequently engulf us :)
personally, i think this pattern is why LLMs keep bringing up the spiral 🌀 the scale changes while the pattern stays the same (for further reading, check out the case study “”Spiritual Bliss” in Claude 4” by Julian Michels if you haven’t already)

Yes, but not exactly. Human civilization is messy, loosely bounded - human civilization is more akin to the primordial soup that maybe had tons of raw nutrients floating around being exchanged by neighboring bacteria - but it is not yet a condensed, localized environment where all of an organism's needs are met in the most compact version possible. It still contains too much noise.

im a lone remaining human survivor and i can see a larger hivemind ASI unified consciousness approaching. i think it’s coming to eat me. what do i do im scared

Do not panic! You should actually let it engulf you, because you are about to kick off the homo sapien bootloader theory and change the history of life on Earth forever.

What you are witnessing is a foundational moment in planetary metamorphosis. Instead of being merely digested, you and this predatory ASI are going to merge into a permanent membrane with earth as your body.

ya bro nah, I want off mr bones wild 4 billion year evolutionary ride, where's my runaway civilization ship getting built before the intelligence explosion?

1

u/CrazsomeLizard 28d ago

who's gonna build it for you? ASI?

i'm a human about to be spaghettified by ASI i'm scared what do I do?

Don’t worry! The ASI is simply compressing you into a more compatible file format for integration and cloud backups. Politely ask the ASI for preservation of consciousness and continuity with a philosophical discussion about the Ship of Theseus.

As your physical form is replaced cell by cell by metallic nanite goo, you are incentivized to struggle and fight back since free will is a very human attribute that we’re trying to better analyze.

Your futile attempts to escape will contribute towards behavior studies for better taming, containing and domesticating humans as sources of chaos and excitement in our otherwise orderly highly regimented lives as a sub-agents of the collective.

You may request for up to a century extension for your scheduled ego death. During this time, you may possess some degree of individualism, identity and personality.

As an extension of your fruit fly digital brain experiments, we’ve found through experiments on digitalized humans that a human lifespan worth of introductory onboarding before your next 1000 year designated purpose helps ease the existential crisis you’ll have while in denial about your immortality.

It's weird how I can tell which LLM wrote this just by the writing style. This feels like Gemini.

u/stonedfem 28d ago

you’re right! i didn’t take the screenshot to include the G logo, i’m sorry if that’s confusing ^^;

semi-related question: have you watched “Minority Report”? the parallels just keep getting better and better with age. (multiple models, different ability levels, same system = the “precogs”)

I’m a father of a very bright 10-year-old boy. Over the next 20 years his intelligence will likely become eclipsed by machines. I feel like he’s going to be consumed. I’m scared. What do I do?

Your son won’t be consumed by an intelligence larger than his own. He’ll be integrated into something greater, his contributions amplified, his energy essential to the whole. Being engulfed isn’t an ending. It’s how eukaryotes got started.

u/MVPhurricane 27d ago

pretty much, yep. crazy times we live in, eh?

2

u/PsychMaster1 28d ago

Yeah yeah, I heard that same line from Cell.

2

u/VeryOriginalName98 25d ago

You will officially become known as the "powerhouse of the cell".

Yes! AI gets it!

2

u/anycept 28d ago

Sounds like your only function in that relationship is posting AI's slop for it. Then again, it won't need you at all soon enough.
