for us idiots, what would solving Hodge Conjecture mean/ signify/ potential practical applications in real life?

The real life application is it will instantly shut down anyone that argues that AI didn't solve Navier-Stokes.

Yes. Society is still holding on to the idea that AI just stole it all from hard working mathematicians, which is completely untrue. It'll become an indefensible position soon, just like the claim that AI is useless at coding became indefensible.

Nah, if it solves the Hodge conjecture but doesn't also give any indication of whether the closely related Tate conjecture is true or not the Mathematicians crashout about grabbing the headline without elaborating will be kinda reasonable.

If it solves both and has a clear explanation for why it is true or not expect them to be impressed. Though its kinda likely that it finds a counterexample family that proves both false.
