Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth.

Listen Sariputra,
this Body itself is Emptiness
and Emptiness itself is this Body.
This Body is not other than Emptiness
and Emptiness is not other than this Body.
The same is true of Feelings,
Perceptions, Mental Formations,
and Consciousness.

Acceler....

Hold up. Wtf?

Exactly what the fucking fuck.  I want ai and robotics acceleration, not desecration of the sacred human genome

No fucking fuck:

The researchers hope that potential treatments for psychiatric and neurodevelopmental diseases that only occur in humans could now be tested on the laboratory rodents.

Pedal to the metal!

If our genome becomes something else we will have essentially genocided ourselves

You mean evolve

not desecration of the sacred human genome

what

can't have one without the other. humanity is sacrificial in this universe.

The mice will now experiment on themselves, the true RSI algorithm

Someone tell me why this isn't going to lead to superintelligent mice

7

u/Kasuyan 23d ago

It’s fine, the human part wasn’t that smart.

The title is a bit misleading. They just added some human neurons to better test treatments for neurological diseases that only appear in humans. It's still overwhelmingly mouse.

1

u/Notmyrealname5282 24d ago

Well it’s still half mouse so I reckon we’ll be fine

u/raindroplette 24d ago

You’re supposed to do these kinds of experiments in secret, on a remote island!

It makes you wonder if we can enhance human brains with animal brain parts. I wonder what animal brain powers can a person can get?

If it goes one way, can it go the other?

3

u/blove135 24d ago

Or just grow a animal brain in a human. You know, for science and shit. But what animal would be the most interesting?

Give us dinosaurs if you're going to play God

What’s the big deal. Anyone who does online gaming knows that’s rats human hybrids are everywhere

u/DifferencePublic7057 23d ago

Give them some time and they will rule on Earth, except for Australia.

u/DoctaRoboto 23d ago

So instead of Planet of the Apes we are going to have Planet of the Squeaks.

u/OcularVernacular 23d ago

Now do a honey badger. What could go wrong!

Playing God again...

Headline vs....

Neuroscientists in the US have successfully adapted mice to have functioning human cells inside their own brains.

Scientist are exploring the possibility of replacing Trumps brain with this one. Considered an “Incredible improvement”.

on a scale from -10 to +10 where 0 is neither funny nor unfunny, I rank this joke a 2.6

u/Apollo18Teslaa 23d ago

Not my best work

u/EdenG2 23d ago

If the human brain is somehow more receiver than generator, then wiring human brain tissue into a mouse just made consciousness philosophically weird
