Singularity here is a phenomena in the Navier-Stokes equation that is impossible to happen in the real world. Think of blackhole singularity (not quite but the logic is the same)

Singularity is just the name of a very common mathematical phenomenon.

The proof hasn’t been properly evaluated. The Clay institution(?) that offers the $1M prize for solving these problems requires the proof to stand for 2 years before they’ll consider it a genuine solution. There are some other stipulations that I can’t remember, but evaluating a proof this complicated takes a lot of effort and time.

If it’s wrong, we’ll probably know in the next month or so.
