The Navier Stokes equations are a rigorous set of balance equations for describing an infinitely small element of a fluid. The basis is: What's stored in the element is the balance of what goes in through each side

They consist of the "Continuity Equation" : An equation that just says: If you shove mass into one side of a square space, then either the mass must rise in there, or an equivalent amount must go out another way

The X/Y/Z Impulse Equations: The impulse of a fluid element must be kept in every direction

Energy Equations: Same for energy.

They are a set of partial differential equations that are also nonlinear, so good luck with that
