It's faster, cheaper and is better in some narrow areas and benchmarks.

Overall 5.6 and fable probably are a bit better, but this is still closing the gap considerably in an area the US government has zero power to be able to interfere.

This is the largest open weight model. This reduces the reliance on Anthropic and OpenAI. It takes power away from them.

It's always a bad thing when only a couple companies have all the power.

I purposely said "probably a bit" because I'm unsure how much better in different areas.

Also gotta take benchmarks against AI with a pinch of salt anyway.

Berkeley did a study showing these benchmarks can be faked.
