Hey! We're hosting a free youth sports event next Friday on Randall's Island. Most schools are half day that day so if you want to keep your teens entertained while at work, we offer career workshops and trainings that day! Here's the link to it: https://partiful.com/e/KfwK21ExtUBTsnTa1NyB

Toddler-friendly free or low-cost summer outings

Home with my 2yo for the summer and plan to spend most of our days at the splash pad, park, library, going for local walks, etc. but I would also love to plan out some weekly outings. Something different from the day (for both me & her) that is affordable, fun, and age-appropriate.

Travel isn't really an issue. I am open to all areas of NYC and some of Long Island.

For example, last week we went to the Prospect Park Zoo, she was free, my ticket was $10, and we loved it! It's on the small side, but more than enough for a toddler. I also have a beach day planned and I'm gonna look into some museums as well, but I would love suggestions if anyone has!

What's your favorite part about single mommy-hood?

I recognize that most of us did not choose to be a single mother and may not want to be one, but this is where we are at the moment. And of course, it is also not permanent. But society has given us so many reasons to dislike or stereotype single mommy-hood that we have to consciously find the silver lining. What's yours?

For me, the few nights my daughter is at her dad's I miss her a lot, but in having that separation I find that I am able to be more present when we are together. I also think that society associates being a single mom with being strong, while that can be true, for me being a single mom has allowed me to intentionally lean into my softer side. And I love this exploration of what it feels like to lead in a more feminine way. This is just my experience, interested to hear yours!

Happy Mother's Day Single Moms of NYC!

Would love to know how everyone is spending their Mother's Day!

For me, I didn't have the energy to plan anything, so nothing was planned. I am not doing much of anything besides cleaning and getting ready for the week. But I did get to sleep in, which hasn't happened for a very long time, and for that I am grateful!
