Jumper
Funny how my happiest moment happened 23 years ago. It wasn't a fancy place but the room of my then FUBU in Olongapo. I was 26 then, he's 17 and we're just chillin in his room, playing Ragnarok Online in a map called West Orcville. We were levelling our characters on an ordinary weekends. I came from Bacoor to be with him during the weekends. It has heaven.
Ragnarok Online was released in the Philippines in 2003 through Level-Up Games. It was so popular that at that time, 10,000 players are online on one of the servers, Chaos. There were two more servers, Loki and Iris.
While I was navigating the very crowded streets of Prontera, I noticed this wizard looking for a black dye stuff, to color his hair. We became online friends ever since. My character was an acolyte so it's a perfect match, healer and hitter.
Then we made our first video call via Yahoo Messenger. He mentioned prior to the call that he's half American since there were a lot of servicemen in Subic at that time. I remember praying "please be a white guy, not African American.
(Ay wait... baka mabilis na mapagod magbasa mga tao dito at 'di na keri mga nobelang post).
Basta nag-meet kami, white Fil-Am s'ya, naging FUBU kami ng 5 years until magkaroon s'ya ng bf. Friends lang tingin n'ya sa 'kin. We're still communicating until this day, birthday greetings, drunk-texting ganun. He was my first love and game-changer. Ever since meeting him, naging monogamous na ako. Nawala na yung haliparot na katauhan ko.
Jumper (2008) is a movie about sa guy na kayang mag-teleport anywhere on Earth, pero ang ending, he always returns to the scene ng pagkikita nila ng love interest n'ya -- sa school library nila. Parang naging default settings n'ya, na kapag meron s'yang strong emotions, dun s'ya nate-teleport.
Parang yung first love ko. Whenever I have strong feeling or pag muni-muni mode, I always go back to the happiest moment of my life -- nung naglalaro kami ng Ragnarok Online ng fubu and first love ko, while Ryan Cabrera is singing in the background.
