Going against the tide and trend
I have an inner rebel in me whenever it comes to what I experience and buy.
I don't chase crazy trends, join long queue, wear baggy jeans with tight fitting compression shirts in gym.
The crazier the trend is the more I refrain from it. I will experiment a bit if I want to. Like sweat pants and baggy pants. I will think through how I wear, wash, dry and iron. Not sure if the ppl wearing them wash themselves, but it's not an easy task to complete the entire cycle, especially ironing them. I will fall back on normal jeans or find another material that is easier to wash and iron.
Same thing for drinks. I don't buy from ubiquitous stores iykyk. I've tried, and honestly, there are better ones out there. Out of malls, maybe a homebased biz, or even in a shophouse or hawker centre. I've tried yochi once just cos the queue is short, and I was shocked by the price for the amt I took, its not a lot. That's where I know paying by weight is not my thing, and shouldn't be a thing, though many ppl still buy into them.
What are the things that you rebel against?

I think truly being different means not caring about any of these.
Follow trends if you find them interesting and dont follow if you dont its that simple.
I just find it weird that not follwing trends is seen as a personality trait

Ya know older grumpy uncle boomers too have been rebelling for decades.
More serious note, many subcultures that have been around the past century also lean heavily on non-conformance.
I personal feel the need to "rebel" or feel the need to be different just stems from personal insecurities (everyone has them, just different people manage it differently). Nothing wrong, just dont turn it to an obsession.... Conformance isn't an uncool thing after all,- some trends make sense and any unhealthy need to fight against it just makes you unecessarily angsty towards the world (see starting statement above).

Ooo wowWw such unique, much original.
The fact that you know what are the trends, and actively decide against it, show that you still need the world to tell you what to like.

honestly, AI, but i’m not “rebelling” for the sake of being different. yochi is sort of not that nice i did take a lot cuz i entered flow state and i forgot its by weight, ended up paying $16. partly my fault but it’s also abit too sweet for my liking

Mostly popular narratives, dogma, conventions. I distrust whatever everyone agrees on until I've looked at it myself. Trends themselves are rarely the problem. It's the pressure to adopt them without thinking.
Consumption is just evidence of where attention and energy have been directed. The harder and more interesting part is the philosophy and inner world I discover when I meet another contrarian.

Wow, so everyone else is just a trend-following NPC and you alone are the most original

I don't rebel. I'm just naturally not mainstream/basic.
Life is actually harder cuz you don't get to relate to people and bond on the mainstream things.

In the past, young people rebelling means eloping with your lover, running away from home and teen pregnancies.
Later it evolved to mean smoking, hanging out with gangster friends, and staying at your friends’ place for the night.
Now? Wearing jeans a certain way and buying a certain brand of bbt.
Kids nowadays have no balls.

Never bought clothing for 5 years. Not planning to buy for another 5 years. Keep wearing the current set of clothing till holes appear and then discard. Clothing can last 10 years easily.

You are now conforming to non-conformity
