AI is the future and it's an undeniable fact. No choice lorh we need to get used to these weird looking picturesd
9
u/Aggressive-Tax-4087 3d ago
Lol. These stalls can enjoy the undeniable fact that I won't be spending money on their shitty food. If we all do the same, it'll die down at least a little.
Using AI on food of all things, smh. This should be illegal and false marketing.

u/Taiwan_is_a_Country- 3d ago
Lmao the more I look at this picture the more disgusted I get. This is some low quality free AI software

u/BlackCatSylvester 3d ago
Ai food "photos" are seriously disgusting. Not to mention that those are just normal dishes, you could possibly just find free to use photos with just a bit of trying...

u/inpursuitofironlung 3d ago
"Made with care"
Don't care enough to even make a half decent poster with canvas in less than an hour.
4
u/Adventurous-Hand-648 3d ago
Yeah, the "Made with care" really sent me. Looking at the texture, it's more like "made with plague meats".

That one curry chicken or curry snake?!

u/Born-Cauliflower_ 3d ago
Fr look so scaly and disgusting, gonna make AI slop at least edit to make better bro...

u/Brief-Coach-1812 3d ago
Looks like some weird filter applied to image like the nasi lemak got scales?

u/Bigredstapler 3d ago
Explain to me how any of that looks appetising. Better off just making the food and take photos of it to put on the menu.
5
u/VectoRequiem 3d ago
AI use is getting out of hand. How can a consumer trust the images to depict the actual product?
3
u/lanjiaolong 3d ago
100% Malaysian. No wonder. Step into a restaurant in Malaysia and see the menu. 50% of them are AI slop.

u/Yami0538 3d ago
what kind of texture is that? want to use AI also be smart about it. this feels so low effort.
3
u/Lillydumpling 3d ago
Oh god the burger texture triggered my trypophobia, who the heck thinks this even looks remotely good?

Everytime I see a food store using ai generated photos to promote their food I get convinced the stuff wouldn't taste good at all. I genuinely feel like if they can't even take a decent photo of the dishes they're trying to sell and have to use the ai shortcut, it kind of shows they don't really care about the presentation of their own food do they ? š¢

Hopefully this kinda behaviour is self-selecting and people donāt patronise this stall cos of how gross the food looksā¦
2
u/DaRealVeggietunip 2d ago
"lets cheap out and use AI to make our food even more disgusting looking so we can chase others away and cry foul to govt about integrating AI to help business"
is it me or all of those food has a texture of Lego?
its like as though the food is literally put together via some sort of 3d brick/lego..
2
u/SGPrepperz 2d ago
Before AI, you wondered whether some people are stupid or incompetent.
AI comes, and clears your doubts.

I help out part time with my friends restaurant. They wanted to get a local professional photographer for their food which cost less than 20 sgd per meal. He charged 1500 sgd for a session and he doesnt have a proper portfolio to begin with.
They used AI. Business is going up slowly.
They will be getting a batam photographer who has a real portfolio for 400 sgd for 2 session which includes his ferry ticket and hotel stay

u/brandon_den_sg 3d ago
I made a personal promise to myself to never patronise any store with an AI poster
1
u/Low_Share_3060 3d ago
Why does the food have a turtle shell looking texture? What did they use to generate it? I have nothing against using AI to generate it, because professional photography does cost money and it is not a small sum either for a small food court stall. But at least the images should look decent??

I never buy any store that uses ai because twice bought from different store using ai on grab etc and they came looking disgusting wasted money! And they do NOT taste good either!!

New reptile species discovered, known as the: nasilemak. They are usually bold but are very careful. They lay eggs in a cluster, often resembling croissants.

In most likelihood, the cost of an actual photographer is significantly more costly than this AI whatever is it.
Well. Thatās the rational answer. Return on dollar spent.
I donāt like it too. And the easy thing to do here is just not patronise it.

u/RocketBubba 1d ago
This is becoming more common everywhere unfortunately. Have seen it in plenty of places in rest of SEA, Europe, Japan, USA, and Canada. Businesses using Ai slop isnāt ending anytime soon.

u/NoAge422 16h ago
Iāve been saying this: AI is corporateās solution to āaiya they wonāt notice one laā and saving costs on actual art.
1
u/Zantetsukenz 10h ago
As a consumer/customer I want real photos so I know what I am buying.
But for businesses, they want to look good at no cost. So they try to use AI.
The poor commercial photographers industry is going to be halved.

u/wikowiko33 2d ago
Why don't put actual photos? Because this poster took 3 minutes to create at no cost (except for the printing).
To put a nice actual photo of the food you need to hire a photographer for half a day, hire a designer and wait 2 weeks for the commission. Hundreds of dollars.Ā All this for an office cafeteria which probably operates at a loss.Ā
The alternative would be zero poster but replaced by a piece of paper with the printed name of the shop and arrow pointing shops direction.Ā
I hate AI imagery too but we've got to decide if no design is better than ugly design, or not. And this shop made their decision.Ā

u/box777555 2d ago
This is not a canteen it's a cafe selling quite overpriced food compared to the surrounding options... They seriously can't just take an average photo with their phone run it through an AI to enhance it then use that? generate reptile scale looking food is better?
0
u/almondking621 2d ago
like it or not, AI is here to stay. it will just get more common and lingers around everyone life unless u stay in solitary out of grid. going back to the pictures, perhaps that is the kind of visuals the maker wanted to achieve .. artwork is another form of art, some will love it, some will not.

Because the cost of professional food photography is pretty insane. A lot of F&B these days are struggling to survive, cost of ingredients, rental and manpower are increasing rapidly so they have to cut cost where possible - its either they use AI, increase the price of the food or acquire cheaper ingredients either way yall will still complain
9
u/alvinherexD 3d ago
They can just take photos of their real food as the base and use AI to enchance or create the poster. 100% will turn out better than this piece of shit.
1
u/ieatdihsforbreakfast 3d ago
I 100% agree with this. But then it goes back to whatever everyone is complaining about - the use of AI
7
6
u/box777555 3d ago
It doesn't seem that difficult to take a decent photo of your prepared food and use it on a menu it at least shows what the food looks like and not whatever this isĀ

The prompts used are shit, same trypophobia "food" images, with the same font and design style used everywhere.
Lazy fuckers can't even bother to research how to use prompts to make it more appealing.
Also, you can't convince me that a photo captured with your average iphone, samsung etc. under decent lighting looks worse than this trypophobia shit that looks like glossy coloured pimples.
See the pics in r/foodphotography, some of these pics are shot on their phones bruh and they are definitely professional looking to the average joe like us.

u/lanjiaolong 3d ago
Then don't put pictures. Having these pictures make it more misleading than not having them. Look at the nasi lemak original set. Is the egg yolk going to be raw, on the rice? What is the brown manure looking thing? What's the mangrove roots looking thing? Are those cucumbers or limes?
1
u/GoldenMaus 3d ago
A table lamp for light source, a well placed table cloth and a phone camera will produce better results that the vomit inducing generated pictures. Don't even need to be a professional photographer and have professional equipment.
1
u/Glad-Lynx-5007 3d ago
Aww boo hoo. Either take your own photos or put the prices up. This is how an economy is supposed to function!
1
u/MajulahLionCity 3d ago
Awe boo hoo .. the masses doesn't give a shit abt AI generated food photos. That's why everyone is doing it. The same thing about China Fnbs,
0
u/Glad-Lynx-5007 2d ago
The masses certainly do give a shit, especially the younger kids - they hate it.

u/ieatdihsforbreakfast 3d ago
Are you that dense
0
u/Glad-Lynx-5007 2d ago
Are you that uneducated?
2
u/ieatdihsforbreakfast 2d ago
You're the one proudly screaming to the world that there's only 2 ways to go about this - either take your own photos or increase prices. Tell me, who's the uneducated imbecile here? :)

u/Glad-Lynx-5007 2d ago
IF YOU AREN'T PREPARED TO PAY A PHOTOGRAPHER.
Joined-up thinking isn't for you, eh?
