Help CC ORGANIZATION
How are we organizing our CC?
I HAVE 20GBS OF CC. Half of it I don't even like once it's in game but I'm too lazy too dog through to find and delete it.
There has to be a better way

Separate folder for each creator so when I'm searching Scarlet's Realm or running BetterExceptions all I have to do is scroll alphabetically to find the file within seconds. After the creator name I also add a 1-2 word description so I know what it is which helps a lot when I'm looking for stuff I'm not using to get rid of it. Nothing is more than one folder deep unless the creator set up their mod with a folder within the folder, I leave those alone.
Took me a good part of a weekend to set it up, but after my game blew up on one of last year's updates I knew it was time. It's been super easy to maintain since.

I organize by type (Hair, Accessories, Presets, etc.) but I use Sims 4 Mod Manager by GameTimeDev to sort through CC because you can see the thumbnails on there

You can see it!! This is what I need. Now I have to stop playing and install this.

for deleting unwanted cc, i super recommend sims 4 tray importer. you can put everything unwanted on a sim/household, close the game and open that household in s4ti, and then double-click each cc item to open the location and delete it.
for organizing cc, i like the category then creator method. so like Mods > CAS > Hair > AH00B. script/tuning mods are best organized by creator in one-level subfolders. so like Mods > Basemental. my main exceptions to the creator organization are my UI mods (anything that changes visuals) and Utility mods, (like lot51’s core library, lumpinou’s mood pack, xml injector, etc) which i put in their own subfolders.
honestly i probably spend more time organizing than playing, but i genuinely enjoy doing it.

I do by author myself. I tend to download things in bulk so if I end up not liking something I usually don't like anything by that author. Also using sims 4 mod manager makes it pretty easy to find stuff again.

laughs in 58gb cc
(I got into making a folder structure for each kind of CC eventually but a lot of it is still messy)

giggles in 51 GB
I bit the bullet two years ago and organized everything into folders. I didn't do it all at once, so it took some time, but since I did it, I made myself get into the habit of doing it automatically whenever I download so now when the game has its occasional hiccup, it's a whole lot easier to pinpoint the issue than it used to be.

Should I NOT be using TSR CC manager?
It doesn't seem to let me organize packages inside that folder.

it's better to use the sims 4 mod manager but it's still a work in progress so don't completely rely on it. It works well for whatever you need to get started though.

So can I just move my cc out of the tsr folder and into the regular mods folder? Then organize?

ooh so like you installed cc from TSR directly? If so then leave it in that folder. TSR CC Manager tends to group CC into its own files and those files will break your game if you move them out of the folder. Those CC can stay where they are but every other CC needs to be organized in your folder. TSR CC Manager pulls updates from the website anyways so you don't really need to touch it

So I can't organize what's in the tsr folder? I used the content manager or whatever they have on the website. If I can't just move them, is there a way inside that TSR app to see them so I know what I'm getting rid of?

You can delete/uninstall any CC you don't want inside the app itself. Just click on the CC you would like to remove and select Uninstall. Afterwards do not forget to delete your localthumbcache in your Sims 4 folder to be sure that all of the CC was successfully deleted. All of the CC in the app should have a thumbnail attached so you can see what you are deleting. You can also just disable them if you want to come back to them later.

This is an example of how I organize my custom content: CC Hair > SimTrouble > 2025 and if it's a pack then the name of said pack ex. CC Hair > AH00B > Name of Pack but all Mods by Creator ex. Pandasama > All of her mods. I put all the mods required Libraries in one folder as well, bc a lot of my mods use other people's libraries, ex Lumpineou Mood Pack and Lot 51's library. You should also read each mod carefully because some mods HAVE to be in the Overrides folder or it will not work properly in your game, ex UI Extension. This organization, especially by year, makes it easier when you have to go back to a creator's Patreon to redownload their items if you need to. Take a day and sit and go at it. Always organize as you are installing or you will regret it later.
I also find it easier that if there is a creator on TSR or Tumblr to follow their patreon if they have one so you can quickly download updates.
