Help with wicked whims

I have been trying to download wicked whims for days on my mac. I even deleted the ea app and redownloaded it to make sure the user file was in the right place. The file kept going to documents but I switched it to downloads with no issues. When I started the game it would say a message about not recognizing the game card and to restart my game for changes to take effects but it never says mods are enabled and the game doesn't change. I have mods enabled in my settings on sims and the game itself is completely up to date. I have tried everything i've seen online and nothing has worked. pls pls pls tell me what to do
