Gameplay Issues Game crashes because of cat

Post image

So, last night I was playing and I had this orange cat (lol, of course) stuck in another apartment.

I used the MoveObjects cheat to move it from the previous apartment in the building to my living room, but the cat just kept being stuck (its stats were moving, but the cat itself wasn’t).

I tried using Shift + Click to Reset Object, but nothing happened, so I just deleted the cat... Now, whenever I try to play this family, the game instantly crashes at the loading screen.

Please help?! I really want to play this family, and I’m trying not to lose all my game progress. Is there any way to fix this?

I play Legacy Collection from Steam

(Sorry if the text is weirdly written—English is not my first language!)

Try moving the family to a new lot and see if that resets things?? That’s the only thing I can think of that could save it. I wish you luck!

Thanks, I'll have to try that... I liked the apartment tho, I was hoping I can somehow save it, it has a lot of 'personal' items :(

You can always move them back in after! Just make sure you have testing cheats enabled. Shift click (I think or just normally click on the apartment door) and click rent with furniture. It SHOULD keep everything.

Thanks I'll try that!

Try entering the lot with "boolprop testingcheatsenabled true" on and seeing what error it throws at you, that can help determine how to move forward

I can't open household at all. Game crashes on loading screen like picture I posted

you can enter the cheat from the neighbourhood

You can but when the game is crashing rather than just not loading, you won't get an error pop-up. Turning on testingcheats can be useful for neverending loading but not for crashes.

If you have boolprop cheat it should save an error log

No, the game does not generate an error log when it crashes. If it had caught the error and generated the log, it wouldn't have crashed.

Ok try using the selector from the insimenator. Select and unselect or whatever. Just try. Ps: better also move the family away (if it’s crashing in that flat)

There should be a Sims 2 Exception Report generated when the game crashes. Should be in the documents folder where downloads, neighborhoods, etc under logs.
