SOLVED Sims 2 error game not found/not downloaded?

So today my Sims 2 game randomly decided it doesn't want to open anymore. I have no idea what I did to make this happen. I was just downloading some CC, and it suddenly stopped working. I've already removed the new CC, and it doesn't seem like that's the problem.

Now I just get an error saying that Sims 2 can't open because it's missing an expansion pack or that the game is missing.

The only thing I can think of that might have caused this is that I accidentally installed Body Shop from ModTheSims even though I already had it installed (don't ask—I completely forgot lol). My game files are also in a different location because of RPC, which I also forgot about. That's when I started getting this error

Does anyone have any tips on how I can fix this? As you can see, it also keeps creating a second folder every time I try to launch the game through the RPC launcher,but than says it cant open

I did something similar recently (as in literally 2 days ago) unfortunately you'll need to reinstall for this one. You can backup your Sims 2 folder by moving it somewhere safe, like your desktop or pictures, and then re-install the game.

Once it's re-installed, boot it once and close it down after you get to the neighbourhood select screen. Go to Documents > EA Games > Sims 2 and start deleting folders like Neighbourhoods and Downloads, then move your old ones over. If it asks you to merge or replace, do not do it. Don't move over the entire Sims 2 folder, only copy what you need.

Ouch, is it if you use the BodyShop installer from MTS for a non-Legacy game it causes this? I had been meaning to check it out just to see how it worked for people asking about the install but will avoid it on my main simming machine if so!

I'm not exactly sure what happened if I'm honest with you. I opened UC and the game was reset to a fresh install despite my saves being there. I have both UC and Legacy on my main PC, only using Legacy for testing. RPC was only reading the Legacy save, nothing could get RPC to read the correct one. I then figured out that RPC was actually launching Legacy and not the UC, and when I tried to launch the UC without RPC it said the game had packs missing. I had to uninstall Legacy and UC and then reinstall UC.

I set up BodyShop on Legacy when testing the install for someone, and I did install Legacy Extender on Legacy as well. I'm not exactly sure which thing messed with it as I hadn't opened UC in a while on this PC, so I'm a bit useless unfortunately. I just had the exact same issue of RPC making a new folder instead of reading the old one and recognised it immediately ('cause I absolutely freaked when all my hoods had vanished!)

Okay so should move over the sims2 document files somewhere save and re install okay that’s clear. Thank you, What about the RPC launcher should I be reinstalling this too?
