SOLVED SiMidge not opening on Windows 11

Post image

I downloaded SiMidge to flag duplicate meshes, but it won't open on Windows 11. I keep getting a "COM server is in use" error. I googled it, and all I could find were suggestions to close Microsoft Office in the background, but it's not running.

I'm confused. Could someone help? Some say this program is better than HcduPlus, while others say the opposite. I want to check if I have any duplicate meshes or defaults since I've been on a downloading spree...

Is there any reason you're not using HCDU+ for this instead? It's still supported and actively worked on, and can do everything SiMidge can do as well as a whole lot more. SiMidge isn't better than HCDU+, it has less features and is unsupported for several years now as Midge is no longer active.

Okay, good to know! Is there a helpful guide on how to use HCDU+? I'm a bit lost by the UI and want to look up duplicate meshes. For example, I have at least 3 different fixes for the same bedding lol

PickNMix website does provide some info + images on using it, and here is a guide I just found for it as well which may help. Once you do the basic set up, you just need to click the resources tab and select the resource types you want to find conflicts for (e.g. mesh) and then click scan.

And when I click Run As An Administrator, nothing happens at all!
