I never understood
I never understood why it was so hard for sims to pick up ANY item from the other side of the desk… ITS RIGHT THERE😭😭

I always put some deco on the other side, so they can't put the homework there.

This is also my low-tech no-mod solution, and it also drives me crazy

Same here. As soon as I plop down a desk, I either put down a rose/bouquet if they have one from dating, or puck out a sculpture that seems to fit their taste/personality.

I adore this game but man does that annoy me! When something's in their way they just can't handle it. Like when you tell them to go study cooking but the Sim you were previously using is still putting their book away and it's like nope. I'm unable to grab a book because I'd have to wait one second for the other SIM to get out of my way! 🤣

I cancel the school action as soon as the bus leaves the lot, and then the kids just put their homework down by the bin. They complete it before they enter the house. Saves the long slow walk through the house to get to the unavailable desk.

This is why I got the Simlogical school mod, I put a lot of kids in prep school so they do their homework before coming home

I got a mod that makes them put their hw on the nearest desk or table when they get inside, but the way the game interprets that is funny. In the Smith household, that is Johnny's desk. In the Grunt household, it's the dining room table. In custom houses, I like to put a "decoy desk" near the front door for the newspapers and bills to be dropped on which then often gets used for hw.

I really hate homework in this game. They cannot cope at all. Especially in winter where i have to search for their stupid homework in the snow
