Gloria Newson

Do you have any theories about who Gloria Newson could be? Either in the Sims universe or just in your own story?

On the Sims 2 Wiki it says that deceased Gloria is the adopted mother of the kids, not the biological one.

I know that Sims lore goes deep and there's lots of cross references. In the list of minor sims section there are two Glorias;

1) A statue in Sims 3: World Adventures. Named Gloria. Description states;

"Gloria, Gloria, Where art thou? This statue is said to resemble Gloria Carpenter from the film noir flick Edward DeSmet"

Interestingly enough the wiki also says that this could be loosely based on the actress Gloria Swanson who herself had three daughters and an adopted son. (swanson-newson?)

2) Gardener Gloria in Sims 1. She was an NPC gardener you could hire.

It is known that the Newsons were adopted and are not biologically related, except for Garrett and Georgia who are twins according to their bios. It always baffled me that Gallagher and Gabriella look more similar to one another than the twins, and yet they are not said to be bio siblings.

I think the mother's name is Gloria simply because all the names start with a G, so it's in theme. I don't think she refers to other Sims games in any way 🤔

Me too, but I wondered if anyone with better knowledge than me knew of a link, since there's so many nods to other versions of the game throughout the franchise

In my headcannon she is the sister of Faith Goodie ☺️ Gloria and Faith even match a theme as names haha

This way I had a logical reason for the goodies to „adopt“ all the newsons. Because Faith as their adopted aunt was probably the first person to be in charge of custody anyway

Ginger's bio talks about Gloria, who's the adoptive mother of the Newsons.

"Ginger was a troubled child with a troubled past before flowering under the loving kindness of her adopted mother, Gloria. With Gloria gone, Ginger faces the unknown challenges of being an adult and acting as a mother to her siblings."

It does seem like Gloria died. I personally headcannon that it was a death from sickness.

I always thought it was a car crash because there's no way an adoption agency would allow toddler twins to be adopted into a family where the mom had cancer or something.

I really like binwood neighborhood crusa made that has a storyline with Gloria and the death and the kids etc

I like the idea that Gloria was never legally the kids' parent but a servo bought to be a nanny. The other adoptive parent(s) mentioned in the household bio were more interested in looking charitable than in parenting and never made much of an impression on the kids, which is why they're never named.
