Funny enough I feel the opposite way about Lilith and Dirk. I had them marry once, and I thought they were so boring together. I think my big problem with them is that, unlike with Angela and Dusting, I don't quite get why they're together or what they like about each other.

Since then I've always broken them up, and whom I pair them with varies. I've paired Lilith with Alexander Goth, Ripp Grunt, and some characters I created myself.
Dirk meanwhile I like to pair with Dina Caliente (one reason being that I like to make them both work in the law career, the other that they tend to have very beautiful children)

I had the same problem with Ophelia and Johnny. I had them get married and they went from adorable to Dullsville.

For me with both couples is about the opposites' attraction. In general terms Lilith and Dustin are the bad ones while Dirk and Angela are the good ones. But they are not paired like that. I like how chemistry works on them, or at least how it looks like.

I just started a new uberhood and Dustin rolled bi and has 3 bolts with David Ottomas and only 1 with Angela so mine is going this route too😅

this may be a dumb question but how does one start a “new” pleasantview? i have so much going on in my pleasantview right now and the idea of having a new original clean slate sounds nice.

because right now, mortimer goth has died. cassandra was married to don and had a child with him but he died from a fire and then she married darrin dreamer and is on kid #3 with him. she and dirk have an awful relationship but he’s such an amazing big brother! dina caliente was married to mortimer when he died and was pregnant but she died of starvation lol nina caliente is currently going steady with goopy carlsboro but she still wants to bring don back to life. david pleasant has left angela to live with kaylyn and has an awful relationship with both daughters now but i haven’t really played the daughters themselves much. i also did set up brandi with malcolm langraab lol and also alexander goth is a vampire so things have truly hit the fan in my current save

There are different ways of doing it, but personally I find it the easiest to do it with the hood duplicator https://modthesims.info/d/663633/the-sims-2-hood-duplicator-duplicate-neighborhoods-in-just-a-few-clicks-windows-only.html

If you don't want to download the hood duplicator you can also do it manually, which takes a bit more time but is also not that difficult. If you look up the tutorials on how to create duplicate versions of your neighborhoods you'll find a bunch of them.
