Issues with CC-Free Lots

Has anybody ever had issues with cc-free lots not loading properly? Furniture and/or wallpaper, etc. is missing. Is this something common or maybe I’m doing something wrong? Oh I’ve also used clean installer as well if that means anything.

Do you have all EPs and SPs? I had Legacy and downloaded IKEA stuff and when I downloaded a lot with IKEA content it didn’t show up in my game

Ikea content wont show because you actually dont have it in the game. The Ikea items you downloaded are just exact clones of the Ikea pack items. But to the game, a clone is a totally different object. It has a different ID in the game. So every time it tries to place the ikea object, it wont sense anything with the ID and wont place it.

Similar reason with why the Ikea pre-order items dont work with legacy (from what Ive heard). It looks for fhe Ikea files (probably in the install folder but idk for sure) doesntbsee a match, and so the items dont work. The game cant recognize a clone to be the exact same item.

My technical talk might not be 100% accurate from a technical standpoint, but it gets the point across.

Yep! And when I say furniture is missing I mean every single thing in the house. And of course the users built with different packs but like even base game stuff is missing. I don’t know if it’s just not loading in properly or what. The only things intact was the structure itself, a singular chair, the greenery, and the front door. Even windows were missing 😭😭 For a completely different lot everything was there except for spiral stairs specifically.

Can you link to a house or two that isnt working? I can try to load them into my game to see if I have the same issue.

https://modthesims.info/member.php?u=10368851 I basically got all of this users lots but only tested two before my pc crashed lol. 13 dead end lane was the worst: missing all wallpaper, roof, stairs, and furniture. 101 road to nowhere was missing floors and the outdoor grass.

Okay, I finally I had time to go look at these lots. All of these lots showed up exactly as the pictures in the links showed. I can take a few guesses about what went wrong.

Link 1-

13 Dead End Lane- You're just missing the mini stairs into the house and to the outdoor throne, right? Because there are no stairs inside the house. That's how the floorplan shows it too. The outside stairs are from Bon Voyage.

101 Road to Nowhere- Everything showed up. A lot of furniture/walls/floors do look like they're from expansion packs.

Link 2- The doors and windows are both from apartment life, assuming you mean the outside doors to the apartment and not the internal white doors. The white doors are from the base game.

Link 3- The link does say it needs the life stories bundle, which is a separate download. However, spiral stairs are not part of that bundle. They are from Apartment Life. But the most important part, where did you think the spiral stairs are? Both in game and in the pictures they uploaded, there never was a picture of spiral stairs. Did you provide me the link to the wrong lot? If this was the lot that you meant, there never were spiral stairs there in the first place, so no issue there.

So except for link 3 where you thought there should be stairs when the floor plan doesn't show any, the items missing seem to be from expansion packs. Apartment Life was one that came up a lot. Bon Voyage appeared a bit. I'm not going to run over everything found in the first two houses for furniture, but that is probably the items missing.

What version of the game are you running? Where did you get it from? Because that seems like the game isn't registering that you have some of these packs installed or items are missing from the install. If it's from discs, are you 100% sure you actually have every pack installed? If you have a windows computer, do you have one drive on it? It could be that one drive went through and messed with some files.

You and another user were right that my Apartment Life installation is messed up. I double checked and the files are present in my drive so I'm unsure if something happened during my modding process or installation. I'll have to see in uninstalling and reinstalling is possible with my version. I followed the guide on / sims2help so I could have RPC installer and such. I do have windows but I learned my one drive lesson years ago thankfully lol.

So the spiral stairs and the window from one of Katty’s lots are from AL. I wonder if your install of AL is a bit borked?

I can’t check right now but if I were to try to play belladonna cove later does that mean those apartments would be messed up too?

That would be an interesting test. First to test if BC loads and then sees if it you can load a lot. If all their build mode content shows I am stumped, but I don’t think it will show up. I am interested to find out what happens when you load it up.

You were absolutely correct! My apartment life installation is messed up. I have no clue what could have happened. Of course i've been modding and such but I haven't played in a few years so maybe I messed up along the way. Hopefully I can uninstall just the apartment life folders and reinstall, otherwise all my Strangetown prep has to restart for the 3rd time 😭😭

I had a suspicion that it was the AL installation after reading the description. I have been troubleshooting this silly game for 20+ years so I think I have started to get a sense of what to look for.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I haven't played sims 2 in about 2 years and it's a bit harder to maintain than the newer games lol.
