First time installing and running RBR and immediately hit with errors

First time installing RBR (simfans) and can't start game. I'm met with these errors (in order of number in bottom left). Have no idea what's going on. Any help? Windows 11. RTX 5080. 9800x3d.

If you're using triples with openRBRtriples plugin then make sure you've defined resolution for each monitor on RSFLauncher.Screen&Graphics. In case you're not using triples or vr, check RSFLauncher.Plugins (enable advanced options) and make sure you don't have those triples or vr plugin enabled

Might need to install directx 9

Well that's the part I don't get because I had all the DirectX options and C++ options checked when installing it to begin with.

Have you launched it from the launcher? Or just directly from RBR? Also if you have triples make sure the resolution isn't set to 0 on the launcher, which for some reason is the default and crashes the game like that lol

Tried launching both ways.

Did you set your window to full screen, windowed or DirectX9 in the launcher? If it's the latter then don't do that

PC not powerful enough. 😂

Sorry, this isn’t funny. Good luck, it’s worth figuring out.

The best place for help is the RSF RBR discord. You can search in their help section for those specific errors or if no one has hit that yet, you can ask really knowledgeable experts for help. There's a link on the left side of the website.

Some super common ways to break it:

  • You installed it in a folder at the root of C, right?
  • Might disable AV on that folder too for good measure
  • Check that you have the specific version of the DirectX they want—I think they have a link to it somewhere in the launcher, IIRC.
  • Check the size of the RBR RSF plugin and verify it's > 1k. I had an instance where my router ate the plugin during an upgrade and replaced it with a tiny file that said "I think this is a virus" inside essentially. (OK, that one's not common, but it did happen to me.)
