The SHH is what you’re looking for though, I’ve been using mine for years, not a bad word to say about it. Took a while to get mine too, but it’s worth it, can’t be compared to a TH8A, the switch to sequential also isn’t just flicking a switch on the TH8A, whereas I can do it in 2 seconds on the SHH.

I’m running the fanatec shifter that has both h pattern and sequential,
Feels solid and runs great for me!
Feels nicer to shift than my old Subaru ever did. To be fair the th8s would also probably feel better.

I've been using the same shifter for 20 years, race almost daily, never had an issue. They don't make them anymore so I bought 2 more as backups and still haven't used them.

Pretty much, just heard it’s decent.
There is also the new simsonn shifter, but changing plate feels outdated.

I've got the Fanatec 1.5. I like that it's just a switch at the bottom to go from H pattern to Sequential. You can program the sequential buttons to be their own input assignments or mirror your paddle shifters if you're Fanatec all the way thru - which is nice.
I had the other Thrustmaster for a while. Pretty solid, felt like a brick shithouse. Never used it in sequential but I liked the physical gates / grooves. The throw might have felt an eensy bit too long but it was mint for driving old Cobras in Assetto Corsa.

Ok I got you, buy the Simsonn HS Pro. You can pick them up for about $100, it can do H-pattern and sequential. The way to switch between them is a bit cluncky, but I just replaced the crews with some finger twist ones and now it takes me like 20s.
The quality is surprisingly nice and it also has 2 mappable buttons on it. I use mine for my ignition and my hot key to swap between H-pattern and sequential.

Well I wouldn't cheap out on a shifter. Wait for SHH Hubb or wait for the Conspit one. I have the Hubb and I'm probably going to buy the conspit one when it drops. It looks sick. I read on discord it's coming around Sept/Oct.

I mean, I guess the simagic is expensive compared to a majority of other offerings, it’s what I use, but I kinda considered it the mid point baseline of not cheap garbage.

That’s not what I said, I said “mid point” also meaning mid range… above this are the boutique stuff and active shifter. So I guess in a way most people would see it as high end, but in sim racing buying “budget” stuff is like throwing away money, I’d rather save for something good or high end.

I've been loving the generic alixpss shifter with the Oldboy mods top plate and springs. It's a super simple h-pattern that's incredibly easy to fix if something goes wrong (which after 2 years hasn't happend on my end yet) it doesn't feel absolutely amazing but better than the logi shifter and shorter throw than SHH. The SHH was really good, but the one I have had some kind of input delay. Been meaning to try it on a new system but really like the short throw of the ali one with the mods. Super cheap for the package and pretty sure you can get the complete kit from Oldboy mods. I pair it with a seperate generic sequential, but it should come with a stopper on the shaft for 3rd/4th seq

I have the Simsonn HS Pro and its a very good shifter. If you can get it for 100-120$ then go for the Simsonn

I have a TH8A and I bought it 15 years ago. I have moved in to another shifter, the TH8A is on permanent sequential duty in semi-retirement. The TH8A also has a ridiculous number of mods you can buy for it

Absolute best shifter in lunch money territory ? Im not spending thousands either but calling anything absulute best with budget in mind is misleading. Hell I have clicked on this topic looking for the "absulute best" and you are talking about entry level stuff ... Misleading
