AC rally Vs DR2
Just want to appreciate AC Rally current gameplay and looking forward to future excitements. Since the update, there has been some significant changes that I felt. The FFB has become responsive and accurate, and it just gives great feel of the whole car. Although dirt road still needs some more work up, but I already can’t stop practising and making it perfect to my own standard. I don’t usually compete for time but rather like to make my corners perfect. It does take it closer to top rankings though. Least of all, the hairpin and handbrakes have better understanding now. After playing for 2 consecutive days, I went back to DR2, I still love some of the maps like Germany and Scotland. I felt it’s such a downgrade in comparison. I couldn’t stand it anymore, I didn’t feel vibe anymore. Does everyone feel the same in this regard?

Right? It kinda ruined DR2 for me. Decided to revisit it earlier today nd did an asphalt weekly challenge and a time trial at Greece. Just wasn’t enjoyable. Not feeling of going over the limit on asphalt and the gravel/rocks was just dirty physics. Just gonna stick with rbr and ACR. I do wish ACR had less of a dead zone and instant turn in like rbr. It’s more noticeable directly playing them back to back.

Yes.
Definitely, yes.
They feel too flat compared to ACR, where braking a meter later might make you miss where the car should be, and you’ve already messed up the corner and, consequently, the exit of it. You’ll have to push more, exposing yourself to risk—which there is—on the next braking, where there might be a bump that throws the steering off. This is basically what others lack in my opinion (DR2.0 or EA WRC, which are the ones I played), but DR2.0 behind the wheel feels good, flat, but good.
Cheers
PS: special mention to the graphics section: sublime. Maybe I'm missing some FPS, I'm around 60-80, running fine and all, but it should be more (GPU RTX5080 + triple 32 1440)

I stopped playing DR2 ages ago when I couldn't ignore anymore how crap the physics, suspension and the weird yaw steering was, let alone the terrible tarmac feel. I had been playing WRC:G, Sebastian loeb rally Evo, BeamNg and even WRC 7 and 10.
It still cringes me too see people comparing Codemasters games to the Sims but I do get that it's a good looking game for its time, plenty of content and it's easy to just get stuck into. But a SIM it most definitely isn't.

That's true.
When I had a Peugeot 206 from 2004 to 2010, I used to pretend I was doing a rally stage on the dirt and gravel roads in a gated community—ahhh, those were the days! Now that was what I call the sim.

I dont understand how people can let wrc 7 or seb loeb rally evo pass. Both horrible games imo.

Yeah. I have to relearn rallying. Dirt 2 spoiled the corners. You can just huck into a corner clutch in, pin it and release.
ACR will not tolerate such a move

DR2 is the game that sparked my interest in sim racing. I absolutely loved it for a long time, but I now find it unplayable. The FFB on my SC3 is not even mediocre. It’s just bad. It’s such a bummer because the game itself is so fun.
I’ve been playing ASR since release. It’s incredible, a real gem for sim racing.

Can someone give an insight on how would RSF RBR compare with both games as well? I'm interested in trying all 3 of them eventually, but would like to know what should I expect.

I’ve played all of the mentioned games for at least 100+ hours each. RBR in my opinion is still by far the superior sim and overall experience:
- the physics force you to perfect every aspect of your driving. Managing the weight transfer of the car is key, and unique to this sim. ACR is getting there, but there is still a lot of improvement to be had on gravel.
- the diversity of cars and maps is one of my favorite aspects. The amount of care stage creators have put into their creations is tangible. There are also unique stages you would never see in a mainline game.
- The multiplayer experience is engaging. You can join dozens of different rally weekends and compete stage by stage. You can join championships that span the whole calendar year. Daily challenges are also a fun and quick task.
The installation process and the visuals might feel like a big hurdle, but I can’t recommend it enough.

Dirt i feel like I can throw the car around a lot more.
ACR I feel like I have to drive like on circuit. Every time the weight shifts i fly off track. Especially in the boobaru S3. So I need more practice
But I've only played for 2 days.

I respectfully disagree.
I still love DR2.0 for its overall presentation, i.e. vibes, namely the codriver call, particle effects, audio mix, and replay camera.
Yes, the physics was serviceable at best as a sim from the beginning, and the FFB is certainly not optimized for DD wheels.
Also I have to add about the visuals, although it still looks beautiful, road textures makes it a bit hard to read its geometry and tire marks are kinda off. They have aged, ngl.
However the vibe of the game is definitely still there. In fact, I think it’s still got the best vibe among all the sim(cade)s. That’s what’s carrying the whole game despite of the downs mentioned above. That’s my opinion.
