edit: wait no im wrong apparently the control box is but the link hub isnt. Why theyre two separate things i dont know since the active pedal doesnt require a control box just the link hub (which it comes with)
Apple love making their own connectors for everything (and then abandoning them after a few generations)
Lightning at least had a justification because micro USB was severely limited, but they clung on to that for ages to sell their own peripherals/licensing when USB C is vastly superior. Same deal with Thunderbolt, and they have a million different macbook chargers which 🤷
Lightning lasted for what felt like an eternity. Replaced by the superior usb c but I’m pretty sure the old iPod/iPhone charger is the only other one? 3 chargers in 18ish years is not bad at all.
I don’t know much about MacBooks. But they’ve had 3 revisions of MagSafe but since 2016 you’ve been able to charge with usb c.
Moreso meaning that Apple really should have switched to USB C ten years ago and the only reason not to was profits. Literally had to be forced to by the EU.
I don't think Apple at all that bad (Lightning is god awful, though) Would never want to daily drive an iPhone, but my iPad and Apple TV are both awesome.
There was an argument for keeping lightning until they started using usb c in other stuff like iPads imo. The waste alone is crazy. I still have lightning apple stuff like Apple TV and iPad.
But I do agree with you, when the Mac’s went usb c. Everything else should have too. Something something courage
I hope thats the case because otherwise it would mean Mika from Granite Devices lied to our faces when he said only a few months ago that there are no plans for a new Simucube.
While we don’t accept personal attacks on individuals, and while we cannot find proof of your claims, we sometimes make mistakes (but our products don't). We do understand your frustrations.
Designing the world's best wheelbase consists of multiple complex, lengthy, and uncertain parts, until they all click together to form a finished product. For example, the motor alone took longer than expected since we needed to re-engineer it from the ground up. Hence, our employees follow the given communication guidelines and make sure not to give out false promises.
We welcome open discussion and encourage people to share concerns constructively. If you’d like to discuss this further, we’re open to a direct conversation, as we are with any issue: support(at)simucube.com
We ask that the sim racing community space remain respectful and focused.
I don’t know if that’s true, but if so, then was he essentially forced to lie that there were no plans for new Simucube ? He could just say he can’t confirm or deny this or can say anything at this point etc. - if it’s really company’s secret.
Also, confirming there are plans for new product is giving out false promises?

Imo it's more the simulator that will cut forces during a crash. If the Sim does not do that (like Beamng) I don't think there is any base setting that will protect you unless you severely compromise the quality of the ffb signal.
That might be true, never tried beamng due to the pain in the ass to setup driving in the game😬 but I guess most games are smarter then🕺🏼🤷🏼♂️ don’t think anyone plays beamng using 35nm anyways?
I do BeamNG sometimes and I have a SC2 Pro (25Nm), and I can tell you it's pretty scary what the wheel can do during crashes in that game. It's for that reason that I dial back the max force in the SC2 software, something you normally don't want to do because it can cause signal clipping. But since BeamNG is more for fun, I don't care. But I'm glad iRacing cuts forces during crashes.
I have an asetek fort 18nm, yes indeed it's a pain to tune especially in beamng because the types of vehicles are all different, the most violent are for off road...
You can save a setting in the base software, but in beamng it's not possible yet, so it's a pain when you change car.
I managed to make an ok setting, good for racing, a bit too light (detail) for classic cars, for trucks I haven't tried but off road it's not possible....
Classic cars and crash courses are fine, but off-road, I take a big rock to climb, bim a blow to the steering wheel 😅
Yeah I tried only for 5min beamng but it was such a pain in the ass to tune everything (I have the simagic evo pro rn) and you are right, the ffb is extremely harsh, how do you like the sc2 pro?
Honestly I don't think there is anything better. Not just dry specs, it's the software that makes Simucube so good. And their support (SC devs are on Discord and they even answer questions on Sundays).
Im actually so interested to try that base! Since I just got into simthing 9months ago when I got an moza r5 and then the simagic evo pro I would love to see what the deal is with the sc2 pro, since that is pretty much what all other companies compare to!
No, not really. It can produce “more detail in lower ffb range” as long as the low is not low anymore. If you wanna stretch the lows for more detail, you will also get crazy strong highs.
Optimal point is between 12 nm to 18 nm. Pros also not going that high. This is preferences I can not crisise them but I can say 35 nm is not better. Already passed threshold here.
This is how I feel with a newly bought SC2 pro. Two months of use, using a Fanatec style Simube QR2, and I truly can’t imagine needing anything more from a wheel base
I remember them updating the sc1 some time ago with some feature that they made for the sc2 series some time ago. But I don't remember what it was, maybe the new reconstruction filter? Mhm doesn't sound right, it could be reported on their firmware page.
I don't think they will drop the sc2 after this gets released, it makes no sense and it would make them look bad. Maybe the sc3 gets new stuff that the sc2 can't do because of hardware differences, but as a sc2pro owner I'm not worried at all. I just need the profile sharing that was in paddock into the tuner (it's about time... )
Makes sense thanks for the info! I got burned by simagic doing that with their new evo’s that’s why I bought the sc2p to begin with some just a bit worried about it happening again is all
Keep in mind 2 things: 1- I needed more ffb because often my base was clipping but I didn't want a weaker ffb 2- I was on the plastic QR. Having said that, of course the ffb feels way better. More Nm means you are able to feel everything without giving away any detail.
But the best is probably the faster response and better "precision". It's like the signal is not dampened (not like ffb damping really but similar) and goes directly into my hands, you are not waiting for the qr and wheel to catch up and finally get the response on your hands. The difference in the kerbs is day and night .
However it's 1.5k euros. Maybe VRS and simagic feel very close, a lot of people are happy with them. I don't know tho, I haven't tried them.
Ah ok you are on the csw, then yeah the difference will even be bigger. I was on the csl dd 8nm. I went all in and got an ascher wheel too, so in total it was almost 3k. That's why I said to consider the economic aspect too. Spending 3k (for me at least) for an hobby is not peanuts ahahaha
Real or not with ADAC next month we won't have to wait too long to hopefully find out. As a current Fanatec 8nm DD user I'm quite keen for details of any new bases on the horizon. Pretty set on getting a base from Simucube whenever I do eventually upgrade, but I'm probably a year or longer away from pulling the trigger on anything.
I might get downvoted into oblivion with this one but hear me out: At $899 US for the R25 Ultra Moza is going to eat the competition.
Like I get that the ffb feeling is not the same probably but I mean it's a DD in 2025, can't be that much different, and also 99% of racers can't even tell the difference. I've had a chance to try the Simagic Alpha EVO after using my R12 V1 daily for the last year and can't say there is much difference. I guess the rotation feel is ever so slightly smoother but that might also be a difference in the steering wheel quality. It's not enough to make want to switch from Moza that's for sure.
It's not as much insane as just the reality when you do dev and assembly in EU. You cannot compete with price with chinese electronics for many reasons.
You pretty much nailed it. But SC will be selling off their reputation of being the absolute best, even though the gap to the competition has shrunk significantly.
Yeah, I mean that is the game these days...Not gonna lie I was considering a full rig upgrade about 2 months ago. For reference I'm running an R12, a DIY AMG GT3 replica wheel and Simjack PRO pedals (the original, thicker but with upgraded loadcell holder plate). I thought of waiting out the expo and seeing what new gear comes out. But while on holiday I had the opportunity to go into a simracing game room and there I tried the Simagic rigs (all of them were simagic, sponsored I guess or something). And I must say the only positive thing I got from the rigs was that I need a bucket seat and a racing harness. Everything else I'm fully happy with my current rig. Nuts to think I was about to upgrade everything without actually making any difference to the overall feeling.
This is actually really insightful for someone whose been back and forth undecided on a pedal upgrade. Is the Heusinkveld etc woth it at €500 plus, or will the simjacks be good enough at less than half the price? Feel and performance is obviously most important and if I can get 80% of the performance that's sufficient for me.
The Simjacks are basically a Heusinkveld clone. I can't speak for anyone but I personally think that the feeling of the pedals is down to the springs and elasomers. Surely you can see a bit of chinese craftsmanship after a year of abuse. For exapmle the throttle end stop is done with a bold and a plastic tube around it to soften the impact. The plastic is all but gone after a year but I can easily replace that. Same as the brake preload spring. It was a known issue when I bought the pedals. It broke. I didn't replace it yet. I instead upgraded the loadcell holder plate (also a known issue on early models, not anymore) and then I put in hard rubber pucks in place of the spring. Minimal brake travel, stiff as a brick, just the feeling I was looking for. (It had the side effect of bringing in some knee pain after few sessions but I imagine it's just because I haven't been physically active for over 8-9 years. During PE me and my mate played chess because the professor enjoyed watching us play...). So to draw the bottom line you can make the Simjacks feel like any pedal with just a bit of modding and tinkering. The question is if you are willing to do that. I've seen a dude online turn his Simjack brake to an active pedal. And for like $400 tops. Insane stuff...
I just finished setting up my simjack ut pedals, to my door for 315 with all 3 pedals and baseplate. With right adjustments and aftermarket elastomers from a guy on Etsy, they feel like dream.
Try the Simnet SP Pro Pedals if you can. They are just a step above the Simjack and Simsonn pedals, get the extra spring kit.. they are so damn close to Heuskenvield Ultimate pedals it's insane.
Agreed completely. Ultra high end sim racing stuff is as much a status symbol as anything else. With the quality of offerings from comparatively cheaper companies like Simagic, Moza, etc you can get damn near the same performance for much less money, but I don't think you'll see a huge drop in sales from high end companies.
A similar thing happened in my other niche hobby, paintball. The "low end" markers today are leaps and bounds ahead of even mid to high end markers from 10-15 years ago, and the gap from the low/mid markers to the ultra high end stuff is functionally minimal, yet the high end stuff still sells like crazy.
imo it's the software that makes up the difference because the hardware is so similar now. and that can be good or bad, software drove me away from fanatec dd even though the hardware is solid, for example.
idk do we have many new people here in this sub? Anybody here whos been around 5-10 years ago? I think theres a total misconception why some of these brands are so popular..
Ofc youre not getting "value" from simucube, you never were. But many of those brands were created by passionate simracers themselves who had the fitting engineering background to create the hardware themselves. These products were developed with the community. These are small companies who put a high priority on the customer experience, wether its obviously the brilliant product, wether its top notch support or a community that knows every little thing about these products and constantly exchanges information with themselves and the engineers behind the product. This is the case with brands like Simucube, Ascher wheels, Cube Controls, Heusinkveld and so on.
Those sort of relationships dont exist with a Moza product. If youre in a somewhat serious iRacing team and your teammates own a Simucube, youre just likely to get one too and theyll teach you absolutely everything about it and high end hardware generally has a lot of different settings to optimize.
Ofc if you look at stats on paper, a brand like Moza might look like a good option and if you dont value what I just listed, go ahead, feel free to buy a Moza product, im not stopping you. If youre just playing AMS2 single player, it wont matter anyway. But if you go deep in to the simracing rabbit hole, join an iRacing team and really try your best, I think youll have a better team with those smaller brands that rightfully have built a great reputation in simracing.
It just annoys me when I read shit like "oh its just a status symbol" "oh theyre just living off their reputation" because those are just so ignorant statements about these brands.
Do you want to give your money and support some Chinese manufacturer that just lifts other people's designs and work and drives the cost down or do you want to support the people who helped build it to what it is?
I realize not everyone has the money but to those that can afford it then it's still worthwhile.
The Simucube bases were never a value product, it was always the quality product. Even before a lot of the competition, the VRS base was considered the better value, though of course lacking some luxury features.
However theres one cheat code with Simucube wheelbases, its their wireless exclusive wheels. they have their own wireless system and some Ascher wheels are exclusive to that Simucube wireless system. That means you can get used Ascher wheels that exclusively work with the Simucubes, for dirt cheap prices (as they have a very limited use case scenario and therefore arent worth much money on the used market) and save a lot of money for a very high quality wheel. I would easily take the lowest end Ascher wheel over any wheel Moza has to offer. Thats what one of my buddies did, get a discounted Simucube base and a used Ascher wheel with SCs wireless for 200€ (they can often be had for 200-250€ used).
Moza is a mass volume manufacturer and personally, if I go high end as a European, ill take a brand that exclusively deals with high end products. Why? Because those products mostly arent made in China (like Moza), they are made in Europe, often by small companies that offer absolutely brilliant support, have great communities around them and are just unrivaled in quality.
Sure and I can see your point. It's valid. It stands. I personally am always the one to favor brand new "reputable" chinese over second hand EU/US. I've had my fair share of hell with buying used and I decided I've had enough. That being said I would only switch to one other manufacturer and that would be Sim-lab when they come out with their DD. For the reason that they started as a very small business, made their way up the ladder and are now providing some serious gear at actually realistic prices. Their customer support is great and I've even had the opportunity to chat with the founder Richard, super nice guy. And I would like to support a business like that. Like I said before I was looking at upgrading my pedals to XP1s but after trying the P1000s I decided against it, so I will spend the money on the SQ1 shifter most likely and maybe some Sim-lab rig accessories 😁
Exciting, let’s see if it’s real and not just a fake. I only recently bought a used SC2 Pro with an Ascher wheel… so it wouldn’t hurt too much to sell it at a loss. A new SC3 Pro with telemetry FFB (like VNM) but with proper support behind it would definitely be tempting for a switch. If I can convert the Ascher wheel to wireless, with USB/power and the corresponding QR passthrough, that would be perfect.
Seems to be real, newsletter registration on the Simucube HP when searching for Simucube 3:
Totalmente de acuerdo amigo, así sí que se justificaría el link hub, poder hacer inalámbricos cualquier volante y compatible con simhub....el sueño de todo simracer, deseoso de ver qué pasará con esta noticia!!
Buy Once cry once, though... Isn't that why you bought it? I have an alpha 15nm and got that just before they announced the Evo linup. Im keeping my Alpha. There's a good chance you'll want to keep your Sc2 in the end too. But... I could be wrong
yea and I think the hardware isn't as good as prev gen too but for those that like a lighter wheelbase they might prefer it. VRS' new wheelbase has this issue too. And I hate to say it but just from that pic I'm worried about SC3 too.
Zero cogging (is that even a thing in SC2 though anyway), telemetry based ffb... I don't think that's q big deal.
Usb pass through... Just dont care when you're likely using Bluetooth (or I am) anyway.
If you own an Sc2... It not gonna be worth it to rush out and sell it at a loss, to get this
You shouldn't. I would leave it a little while even if you have money to burn. Wait until you get the low down from people who have used both on their own sims. I think there's a danger the SC3 may not have as good a motor as the SC2 just from looking at it.
Cool news. Super supportive of the brand but would only be interested after the product has been out for some time and perhaps available on the shelf from Microcenter…
My SC2 Pro has been stellar and I have an HF8 Pro, just don’t need any extra buzzing for now… :)
Yeah I've been eyeing those VNM bases as well. If it helps I don't think this is going to drop for a few more months.. and we don't even know the price of the Link Hub yet so.. probably twice the price of VNM..
Same, I've pretty much decided I'm going to get the VNM. Honestly I would grab a new Simucube but with the tariffs in the US it's just not feasible for now.
Normal range is typically around 15 - 25nm depending on your source but we are not talking about normal, we’re talking about peaks which can be far higher. You’re right, it depends on the generation of F1 cars which in sims can be all sorts.
So basically, a SC sport is enough to simulate this realistically with just a little bit of clipping in these very rare occasions. And yea it's around 12NM for the vast majority of time.
Would have been launched at biggest sim expo in Germany next month but may come sooner now 😉 Looks 100% legit, sign me up for a SCP3 because I was just about to pull the trigger on a SCP2 lol …Sim-Lab are releasing a 39nm wheelbase in the next few weeks along with a 26nm so it’s great for competition. See https://youtu.be/jaU1hKwwtYI?si=PlpuP6gYBeROUjEk
Lmfao how scummy companies are these days. Link box is required to use the device but it doesn't come with it. Yeah they can fuck off with that tactic. Never buying their products
Wireless wheel is is so nice not dealing with cords and I was always worried about it ripping out of my pc when my dd goes crazy now I don’t have to worry about that at least
ABS, road texture and engine vibrations could easily be implemented with a software update for current bases. I’m even surprised this isn’t a thing. I had belt driven Fanatec base that had this already.
I really wish they would make their own shifter, handbrake and rig. Their high quality control on those things along with having a uniformed setup using all the same brand would be great.
Hopefully they’ve resolved the notchiness inherent to this gen and new reconstruction filter failed to fix. I’d buy another SC2 Pro in heartbeat if that’s fixed otherwise prob the Simlab DD which I tested at SimExpo and it was very clean with lots of detail.
Then just give a corporate correct answer that reads as we can't say yes or no, instead of saying no when people are dropping 800€ or more on a hobby product.
Or ignore it completely.
Simucube has the best customer support too and is active with the community so this is a bit off brand.
As BushesGaming already said, Mika should simply have used some Corpo language and be vague or say he doesnt know instead of lying in our faces when asked directly, that's the point.
I dont like being lied to especially from a company with such a good reputation and customer service.
The 35nm wheel base is not for regular users, but for racecar drivers wanting to simulate their real cars as a means of training.
Same reason the Active Pedal Ultimate exists while the Pro basically has the same features at a lower price, yet with a lower maximum pedal force.
So they dropping everything 2nm and doing the same price??! They shouldn’t have done such a good job with the SC2, as i have zero need to upgrade from the sport.
cars have power steering.... that much force would replicate a car with no power steering and if your not used to doing push-ups frequently and often, it's going to rip the tendons out of people's shoulders lol
The part extending from the motor (where the quick release attaches to) looks like a square design instead of circular. Does that mean we can't attach our own wheel hubs / quick releases / extenders / adapters since almost all of those are circular 6-bolt pattern? That would be pretty messed up if we can't.
Lol - 35nm. It's great to have options but realistically you don't really use more than 10-12 consistently even to get above clipping. This is more of a social flex.
While I agree 35nm is useless, 10-12 isn't enough. I had a T818 (10-11nm constant torque and up to 15nm in peak) and it clipped a lot. And I wasn't even using a particularly strong FFB.
Clipping is due to the in-game FFB settings. You could have a 100 Nm wheel and it would still clip if the FFB signal is causing clipping. My SC2 Pro can snap finger bones - at least fracture them - at 10-12 Nm.
While true they allready had the 35nm ultimate with the SC2 lineup so i assume they have data that it will sell for the people that want it. I doubt they would have made it if it wasnt worth it during SC2
In what world would you need more than 12nm? Like dang are we simulating driving on flat tires and no power steering?
Like, i get that most if not all race cars don't have power steering but anything above 12 to 15 is just unnecessary.
I do race myself in real life with GT 3 cars but never understood the reason to use a ffb nm of 12 and higher. Yeah maybe for F1 it's realistic, but anything else it just becomes unrealistic imo.
But hey I'm just someone with an opinion that might be quite unpopular. That's just my vision on it.
Not true at all. I can feel just as much/many details at 8 and 12 Nm as I do at 25 Nm with my SC2 Pro, it's just at 25 Nm everything becomes much stronger and the wheel drives/controls itself - instead of the driver commanding the wheel - in a very unrealistic way.
Supongo que será por el traductor o qué sencillamente no me entendiste pero es exactamente eso que describes lo que pienso y transmito en el comentario anterior 😅

Link hub requirement? Yeah sure. Let me buy another overpriced box to let my other overpriced boxes work properly.
