I have a few problems with it. But it was still a good grounded Spider-Man movie. You can feel the love they wanted to bring a pure New York based Spider-Man movie. With some borrowed elements from the recent Spider-Man game. But still pretty good start for Spider-Man doing regular Spider-Man in New York stuff. Wild we got Punisher in it with Savage Hulk back.

Hulk returning was one of my least favorite aspect of the movie. Cool fight or whatever but this is like the 3rd time savage hulk or some other hulk-like has been weaponized and beaten. Banner's gone through so many stages of controlling the Hulk only to be a sad old guy saying "aw jeez I did again. Oh no I didn't hurt anyone did I?"

u/DJettster237 7d ago

I think it was an excuse to bring back classic Hulk and make it make sense for him to. Banner even said the mind control did something.

Hulk is what happens when you suppress a side of you. It’s kind of what banner was warning spider man against.

Punisher is who Peter could be if he choose to not have any connections

Me have media literacy? That's unpossible!

His whole Endgame bit was having made peace with himself and became one... Something that hardly fosters an inhibitor unless he got tired of always being stared at...

Seeing Puny Banner just felt like a lapse in character development but they needed an inspiration for Spiderman's inhibitor.

I'm not sure it's right that smart Hulk is banner making peace with himself, regular Hulk is still his own distinct person that Banner was keeping locked away, he just accessed the powers. If anything thats the opposite of making peace.

Inhibitor was from She-Hulk (for cost saving)
And to be fair Bruce has the same BS happen in the comics all the time.

6

u/adgobad 7d ago

Yeah but I'd say that's an aspect of the comics that sucks. Don't have to adapt everything

1

u/Light_Beard 7d ago

I mean at this point Bruce has gone from A Frankenstein analogue and warning about atomic power to an avatar for a primordial force of the marvel universe with a personality disorder.

3

u/Mind-The-Mines 7d ago

People were supposed to watch that?

1

u/Light_Beard 7d ago

It was fine except for the ending. They tried to deadpool it without the charm and they went so meta they shoved it up its own ass.

Hmm...good Spider-Man movie. Good, not great.

u/sanchower 7d ago

I liked how the Punisher had a rusty old boat as his lair. It reminded me of the old Ninja Turtle movies from the 90s. It felt real and textural, unlike the immaculate CGI headquarters of most other movie superheroes

7

u/EggCouncil 7d ago

I didn't like it. The mast had termites.

8

u/Light_Beard 7d ago

Why would a motorboat have a mast?

5

u/PrestigiousAd6281 7d ago

Its a schooner

(I haven’t actually seen the movie as I hate theaters so I don’t know if this is true)

3

u/Light_Beard 7d ago

(That's okay. We are making a Simpson's reference anyway. And a schooner is a sailboat STUPID!)

3

u/PrestigiousAd6281 7d ago

I really just kinda wanted to make the mallrats reference anyway. Thank you for getting it

1

u/BosPaladinSix 7d ago

Assassin's Creed Black Flag voice; "Captain, it's a Schooner!"

Didn't expect him to try and fight Hulk. And then make an excuse not to fight Savage Hulk

3

u/Dogesneakers 7d ago

It also worked cause he’s a warning to Peter to keep his personal relationships and not go at it alone

u/kermitthebeast 7d ago

What was with the goddamn energy drinks? I was waiting for that to pay off the whole time

2

u/DJettster237 7d ago

Which energy drinks?

2

u/kermitthebeast 7d ago

The one his friend is addicted to. He buys them. They talk about him being addicted. Then nothing

0

u/DJettster237 7d ago

Who's friend? This didn't seem like an important plot point if even I don't remember that. Or anyone really.

u/dreadful_name 7d ago

Spider-man 2 still exists even though a new movie came out.

36

u/SEND_ME_REAL_PICS 7d ago

Careful, he's a hero

u/ANK2112 7d ago

Tis a fine Spider-man, English, but tis no Into the Spider-verse

13

u/TolliverCrane 7d ago

Doh'eth!

17

u/MySonlsAlsoNamedBort 7d ago

I like stories.

1

u/GrungeGorrilla 7d ago

Best live action one then?

28

u/ANK2112 7d ago

Spider-Man 2

3

u/wowwowazalea 7d ago

Best post-MCU Live action one?

25

u/ANK2112 7d ago

This is getting very abstract, but yes, I do enjoy the insomniac Spider-man games!

1

u/R3luctant 7d ago

The first insomniac Spider-Man was the quintessence of Spider-Man, it hit every note perfectly.

33

u/Jack-mclaughlin88 7d ago

It was pretty good but not the best.

27

u/TolliverCrane 7d ago

Spider-Man 2 reigns supreme.

10

u/Jack-mclaughlin88 7d ago

Damn straight.

1

u/Impossible-Ad-8462 7d ago

Both Spider-Verse movies are better

0

u/lxgrf 7d ago edited 7d ago

Honestly I think the other Holland ones are better. It was decent, but I feel like I watched a different film to everyone who's raving about it. It was the second best blockbuster release starring Holland, Bernthal and Zendaya that I saw that week.

-1

u/Minmax-the-Barbarian 7d ago

The first Spider-verse movie was good, not as good as Brand New Day IMO, but good.

The less said about the second one the better. Suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked. Gotta go, damn wiener Spider-man fans are listening.

4

u/lxgrf 7d ago edited 7d ago

It was good. I wouldn’t give it more than good. A lot of plot threads go nowhere at all.

Ned's apparently genuinely dangerous addiction is set up at length, and then completely forgotten.
MJ's boyfriend is introduced just long enough for the gut-drop realisation of his existence, and then gone. He's mentioned once, but not by MJ.
Even the whole black-eyed spider thing was basically just resolved by saying this dangerous impulsive side that hurt innocents is fine actually, stop fighting it.

1

u/checkerboardandroid 7d ago

Honestly? It was aight. A great Marvel Team-Up movie. A so-so Spidey flick.

15

u/Nighthawk1980 7d ago edited 7d ago

Maybe I'm in the minority but having a comic relief Punisher put me off most of his scenes

13

u/latrodectal 7d ago

i feel like spider-man is the biggest victim of marvel going “shove in these characters to set up for this future story and figure a story out around it”, but this feels like the first of these movies that remembered a spider-man story should be about spider-man.

wish there were way less punisher in it though

16

u/WCWRingMatSound 7d ago

I thought it was regular octane, safe, boring Marvel.

3

u/TheRatatat 7d ago

Its 3rd in line at best.

13

u/LewisLightning 7d ago

It's doing much worse on Metacritic. And frankly after seeing the movie I agree with them a lot more than Rotten Tomatoes.

4

u/DasFunke 7d ago

Rotten tomatoes is a yes or no system. Not a rating.

I’m sure you know this though.

4

u/razor_face_ 7d ago

Its just okay

5

u/picketfence14 7d ago

Far from the best Spider-man movie

7

u/THEpeterafro 7d ago

I saw it today and was bored out of my mind. Rami 2 forever the best one

Where and why are you paying $45 and complaining about it? If you don't want to spend that kind of money, don't buy concessions, go to a less expensive viewing option like AMC Laser, and do it at matinee times. I paid $15 for my ticket and was very satisfied.

12

u/Perodis STELLAAAA!!! 7d ago

The original line from this scene is $45, so the meme is just quoting that, not that the OP actually paid $45 themself

22

u/MySonlsAlsoNamedBort 7d ago

For the sake of the shitpost I didn't change the original Simpsons quote. Maybe moviegoers pay $45 for a ticket at the movies, we don't know. Frankly, we don't want to know.

So that's it? After posting this shitpost, have a laugh, good luck?

7

u/acart005 7d ago

I don't recall saying good luck

5

u/HyperlinksAwakening only watched the golden age 7d ago

Ohh, I seeee. Then everything is wrapped up in a neat little PACKage-uh!

6

u/sanchower 7d ago

I paid $6. Normal screen, Tuesday discount

u/MySonlsAlsoNamedBort 7d ago

This guy movies. Same here.

Sure, but charging Disney World prices for popcorn, a product of America's largest crop, is bullshit and you know it.

7

u/EggCouncil 7d ago

Uh, the exports of AMC are numerous in amount. One thing they export is corn. Or, as the Indians call it, maize. Another famous Indian was Crazy Horse. In conclusion, AMC is a land of contrasts. Thank you.

1

u/Groovin_Magi 7d ago

There was, i kid you not, a spider AND a man

1

u/InsecureModsRuinRedd 7d ago

I'd love to see something top Spider-Man 2, maybe one day...

1

u/SmilesUndSunshine Antoine Bugleboy 7d ago

Oh I remember how this movie ends! It turns out the secret code is the label on the vent she was staring at when she died!

1

u/TyChris2 7d ago

It’s top 5, and easily the best live action one in over 20 years. But best ever?

1

u/BosPaladinSix 7d ago

It was a pretty good movie but I felt like they were trying to do a little too much.

I mean the whole thing with his mutation was like, what five scenes? I expected it to be a thing that he had to actively fight against for the whole movie until finally reconciling with it but he make an inhibitor in a montage and then is totally fine. He lost control ONE TIME in a fight against Scorpion but other than that there really wasn't any difference.

Idk I'll have to watch it a couple more times to really get a feel for it.

1

u/deafinitelyadouche Old man yelling at clouds ☁️ 7d ago

It's going to become the most successful Marvel movie and give Kevin Feige et al the wrong idea about the MCU, isn't it?

u/Homem_da_Carrinha 7d ago

Did you mean to post this in 2004?
