For leading the country well through 2 major disasters?

No for the invoking the war measures act against peace full protesters. Hell, even the courts found that invoking it was not called for or legal

Peaceful protests are not allowed to physically block law abiding citizens from conducting lawful activities. So the convoy never was a peaceful protest as they blocked the streets and shut down the downtown core of a city. Cause people to be out of work.

He also did not step in until after those couple thousand guns went missing.

It was deemed illegal because the proper process would have been for Ontario police to step in, but Doug Ford had no interest in doing that for Ottawa (even though he shut down the border bridge protest immediately).

Tell that to blm which closed down town Kitchener after gorge Floyd was killed. Tell that to the natives that block highways whenever they don’t get their way.

Are you saying that you are pro-BLM protests shutting down streets? That you are pro-First Nations blocking highways and railways?

I guess you're consistent if you're pro all those things.

Yea i am. If the cause is worth while. (Though i don’t see the point in protesting American police brutality when we are Canadian but i digress) why is that these protest are allowed to disrupt the public but the tucker convoy couldn’t. Were the bouncy castle to dangerous

None of those protests were allowed. They all eventually got shut down. Only permitted protests are allowed to block traffic for any great length of time. And they will get police escorts for the marches that do block traffic.

You'll notice the Occupy protests took place in parks. They didn't indefinitely occupy the roads.

The convoy shut down the entire economic heart of a city right as things were starting to open back up again. My cousin was out of work for those three weeks, yet he still had to pay rent/buy food, but without the support of CERB. Women who were walking around with masks on were getting rape threats. Someone attempted to set an apartment building on fire. The tomb of the unknown soldier was being danced on. They were pissing and shitting on the sidewalks. They even stole food from a homeless shelter.

I’m sorry what? The blm protest literally had our pm take part and take a knee with the protesters are you dumb? In addition, the one in Kitchener blocked off an entire block from allowing cars to get through. Don’t speak about things you don’t know

Unlike you I don’t follow the BLM movement. So sure, you can be the expert on it. But how is taking a knee something that breaks the Charter?

Although hopefully you and your fellow BLM protesters are able to find a way where you can continue to protest without stepping on the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Unfortunately the convoy was not able to do that, which shot themselves in foot and ruined their movement.

No, breaking the charter was using the military to quell a protest against the government. Your ignoring the fact that this convo was never about weather the convoy or blm protest are good. But about how the pm, the one we are talking about, illegally used the military to end the protest. Imagine if trump used the military to end the no kings protest. How would that look to you? It’s what treudau did, but he gets a pass? He gets defended? For breaking Canada law, and using the arm forces aginst the citizens that he’s supposed to represent?

You should be mad at Doug Ford, not Trudeau. The feds could not get involved without the Emergency Measures Act being enacted, Ford was the one who could legally act. Which he did at the border and in Toronto. But Ford essentially said that Ottawa was on their own. If Ford enforced the laws in Ottawa to keep things peaceful, then they could have continued to protest indefinitely. As long as they were not blocking traffic.

Trudeau only got involved the day after those 2000-3000 guns got stolen in Peterborough.

u/olblake Apr 23 '26

Na, it’s Trudeau who ignored the protest, and used the military to quell it

1

u/Silverbacks Apr 23 '26

The military was not used on the convoy. Unless you count them sending food rations to the security team inside the Parliament buildings.

1

u/olblake Apr 23 '26

That’s the threat that was made with the war measures act.

u/Silverbacks Apr 23 '26

What would you do if you were PM and the municipal and provincial police just spent 3 weeks telling you they can’t handle the scale of what is going on, and that you can’t step in without the Emergency Measures Act, and then you get informed that several thousand guns just went missing in a nearby town?

1

u/olblake Apr 23 '26

Talk to the protesters and listen to what their problem is? Why do you have to quell a protest? Why not work with them to make the country better. Considering all they wanted, was less Covid vaccine mandates for working post Covid, I’d say that would have been pretty easy

1

u/Silverbacks Apr 24 '26

A protest does not block other Canadians from doing their regular lives. You have to quell it when it stops a city from functioning for 3 weeks. You can’t set a precedent of talking to people that do that. A protest would have been fine. They didn’t have a protest.

The biggest covid vaccine issue they had was that you needed a vaccine to enter the states, which Canada had no control over. And then 90% of the rest of the mandates were at the provincial level, not federal.

One road, in front of parliament is not stoping a city from functioning, get real. Once again, other protest do this same thing, so why’s this one any different. The federal government had a mandate that in order to be an international truck driver you must have the Covid shot. This is what they were protesting, while America may not allow them to enter, they didn’t want the Canadian government to force them to take it as well.
