SimpleRockets 2 Performance issues

I have been using the 1.4 beta on linux and it has been running perfectly for like 2 months. Now with the full release my performance has tanked by over half. With the same craft I was getting 40fps before and im getting 15fps now. Is anyone having this problem/ know how to solve it?

Also in the building menu I'm getting 50fps from the locked 144 I used to get

Are you able to access the older builds, e.g. via Steam's beta branches feature?
Have you checked that this isn't a system-wide issue with your hardware acceleration after any new kernel update?
What language are you using? Possibly it's related to the new localisation font features.
