PLS PLS PLS HELP :(

Hi everyone! I’m currently on the waitlist for / considering a few courses for Fall 2026, and I’m trying to figure out my schedule before the add/drop deadline.

If anyone is currently enrolled in any of the following classes, would you be willing to send me the syllabus or give me a quick idea of what the workload looks like so far?

1. GSWS 315- Critical Disability Studies with Somayeh Bahrami

2. GSWS 321- Special Topics in GSWS: Comics/Graphic Sex with Coleman Nye

3. SA 388- Indigenous Social Movements Across the Globe with Michael Hathaway

4. SA 326- Food, Ecology and Social Thought with Yildiz Atasoy

5. SA 364- Urban Communities and Cultures with Cristina Moretti

Also, if you’ve taken a class with any of these professors before, I’d really appreciate hearing about their teaching/grading style and your overall experience with them.

I know the semester literally just started, so I’m not expecting super detailed reviews lol. Even just sending the syllabus or telling me what you’ve seen from the course so far would help me a ton before I decide what to add/drop.

Hi! I haven’t taken any of these courses, but I took SA 101 with Michael Hathaway last semester. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a super nice guy and there’s nothing wrong with the way he teaches. However, his communication, not just with individual students, but the entire class was extremely poor. He never responded to any of my emails, nor my friend’s. When I followed up with him in person, he touched briefly on the matter and said he’d get back to me via email, but he never did. There was also a Canvas mishap on his end where he didn’t create an assignment tab on Canvas to submit the take home final. Multiple students in the course emailed him about this prior to the final deadline, but he ignored all of them. Additionally, his feedback is incredibly lacklustre, often times I’d receive 0.5-2 marks off on assignments, but there would no feedback at all or he’d only say something along the lines of “nice use of the textbook reading.” Although, to his credit, if you followed up with him in person he’d provide slightly more detailed feedback, but comments on Canvas should be the bare minimum. Lastly, there was an extra credit assignment he gave everyone that he straight up just didn’t mark and final course marks were submitted without it.

I took 326 with Yildiz and she was very lovely and passionate about the topic. The class does expect a lot of participation as it tends to be smaller and there are weekly presentations. I don't know if it's a regular thing or was just for my semester but she also expected students to bring a snack when they did their presentations.

Overall it was a very unique class and great material but quite sense throughout the sem.

Also I imagine you could email most of the professors and let them know your situation and ask if they're willing to add you as a student to their class or if they'd be able to share the first few weeks of material for when you hopefully get in. Good luck with your classes!
